So CFA and CTV got tossed because their were complaining about this ump'up? (sorry I don't have a clue why they were tossed)This! I posted about this exact rule several days back as part of a possible 2 strike pitch scenario. Today's situation wasn't exactly the same because the batter reentered the box before the pitch; however, the batter's box violation is still in play. Strike 3 should have been called, Dollander's pitch that was called a ball was irrelevant, and the next pitch that was lined back at him should never have happened.
Exactly! If the batter steps out without time being granted, assuming the pitcher is still on the rubber, a strike should be called. If the pitcher delivers a pitch while the batter is out of the box, that pitch is also called a strike. Considering there were already 2 strikes, the pitch didn't matter.Yeah, I remember you bringing that up as we were discussing the rule book. I am out of town away from my laptop with book or I would cut and paste it. By irrelevant I assume you mean he did not even have to throw the ball for a strike to be awarded when he stepped out of the box. Think that is what I read.
CFA was tossed because he came out after Dollander was hit with a line drive. He was upset over the batter's box violation not being as well as the Vandy dugout cheering Dollander going down from what I understand. Oddly, he was ejected by the Oompa Loompa from 3rd base with whom he wasn't even talking to at the time. In turn, TV then was debating that ejection with the aforementioned Oompa Loompa. He was not happy, but he was not yelling nor was he overly animated. Actually he was standing several feet back with his arms crossed. The same ump then ejected him. Tony then walked toward him and bumped him. The ump then went all WCW referee and acted like he had been drop kicked. So CFA and CTV got tossed because their were complaining about this ump'up? Looks like we're going to be extremely short-staffed again tomorrow, too.
Plus plenty of time to game plan with all the coachesThough not ideal, I think we'll be okay tomorrow. Coach Elander has been talked about as the next elite recruiter to get his own head coaching job. No time like the present and it's with our team. I think Richard Jackson has had enough experience working with our pitching staff to do fine tomorrow. They'll have to piece together our relief pitching, but I think we have enough depth to withstand for one game.
Hope Beam has another strong performance tomorrow.
