The rulebook says "the ball...". It doesn't say "the entire ball...". Some umps believe just a sliver of the ball crossing the very front of the plate is a strike, others think more of the ball has to do it. Adapt, quit playing the victim. He's called it for 5 innings, it's not a surprise.Umps seem to call low pitches and outside pitches strikes these days at every level. There is a rule book and a strike zone shown in the rule book. It has angered me for years to watch umps decide to call their own strike zone rather than the real strike zone. They are not the rules committee and don't have the authority to just change the rules whenever they want to. But they do it anyway and get away with it. Really hacks me off.
May have to slide Blade back into that spot if it happens a third straight week and have Burns in the midweek rotation to gain his confidence back.Interesting that Burns has been chased early 2 weeks in a row. With @ Florida looming next week, this 3-week run could really impact his confidence as a freshman if he gets rocked early (FL is second in HR's behind the Vols). Hoping it helps define his character in the post-season when it really matters.
