The Official #1 Tennessee vs Notre Dame Super Regional Games Thread (Fri 6/10 6PM EST ESPN 2) ( Sat. 6/11 2PM EST ESPN ) (Sun. 6/12 1PM EST ESPN)

WAIT a minute now!! You can't change the Question AFTER I Answered it.
It’s called baseball. How many times has the best team won?
This season? Most every Game. Every series but one. It's just a very sad commentary. That's all. Hate it for the PLAYERS. I'm just a spectator.
I asked you how many times the best team wins in baseball and you responded “this season?” So I clarified and said “how many times does the best team in baseball win the entire thing?” You very clearly do not understand the history of the sport. So stop being a troll.

seems too fair… so it won’t ever be implemented. You got to think though, TN received no real advantage for being so dominant all season. 2 of the top 10 HR hitting teams were placed in our regional! Ga Tech leads the nation in batting average. Then they pair Texas Tech and ND in the 16’s bracket knowing damn well one of them was going to end up in Knoxville in the supers. Teams like Tx AM canceled midweek games late to keep their rpi up and now they’re Omaha bound.
Which goes back to Tennessee's Seeding in the tournaments this year....
Nothing for the reward of being no 1.

statistically, once in the last 22 years.. so 4.5% of the time.

Yep, other than home field advantage. Norte Dame is headed to Omaha with …. 18 fewer wins than us. Ole Miss is headed there with 21 fewer wins. Pairing in the bracket means more than the home field advantage.

Not true.
Notre Dame didn’t make the baserunning errors and the throwing errors. Notre Dame didn’t make the crucial coaching error that led to their runs in the latter half of the deciding game.
Tennessee did. That’s why they lost.
Notre Dame took advantage of the miscues, as good teams do.

I respect your opinion VF, But MAN, I been around for 50 years and saw plenty of this. OK, Not a Choke Job. The Old Tennessee JINX? Maybe that's it.
How about we just got beat by a better team on this particular day. That is how I choose to see it. Yes I think Vitello should have probably pulled Burns earlier but I don't think they choked. These types of Tournaments are never easy. And Honestly if LNS is 10 feet deeper in right the 2 run homer is a double at best off the wall. Lot of variables in baseball. Thats the only home run hit that likely wouldnt have been out anywhere that changed the game today. However we had a great historical season and any VOL FAN should be proud of this team and players. They just simply didn't have IT today. And that is all that should be looked at.

Notre Dame won 7-3. To say the Vols beat the Vols is factually incorrect because if that were the case then the Vols would be credited with a win and a loss. Notre Dame won, Tennessee lost.

Not natty or bust but you can’t be the best team if you don’t win in Omaha. It’s that simple. Not taking anything away from the season. Just responding to the “best team this year” comment.

Yes we were the best team all year. That’s a fact. It just means that the best team didn’t win it all.

If you have been around for that long and have watched baseball for a reasonable amount of that time then you would know it’s neither. ND was the better team today. Plain and simple. No jinx, curse or choke job.

If we land Skenes, I think he’s the starting C. He’s an interesting prospect because he can pitch too. So we could maybe have Dickey catch him when he pitches.

Beyond the intangibles, the tangibles will be pretty tough to replace with Gilbert too. He won the SEC batting title.

This ain’t Little League. Catchers ain’t pitchers nor are pitchers catchers. Someone has a decision to make.
