He wasn't overworked. Leo Mazzone with Bobby's blessing was ahead of the times on pitch counts and the like. Injuries do happen when everything is being handled right and even over cautiously like Soroka.
He had nearly 1.1k innings pitched between the minors and majors before he even turned 24. By comparison, let’s use Clayton Kershaw. He was a little over 900 innings before his age 24 season.

Soroka wasn’t an issue of being overworked. It was a freak injury. How many pitchers do you know that have torn their Achilles? And then he freakishly re-tore walking into the dugout. Soroka is not comparable.
