Fire away

Thanks for the invite! Last year, maybe the year before, we got some ground rules but we didn’t cover ‘em all. I reckon we didn’t think we’d have to do so.

I ain’t coming at ya as a mod, coming at ya as a member of a really cool forum, of really cool people, and I know we all wanna protect it.

So…in the most diplomatic way I can muster at the moment I offer up this.

On VN we have a place called The Pub for a few of the posts that have been showing up here.

The forum is better than it ever has been, let’s try to keep it that way. I’m not telling, I’m asking. If we need to debate it, let’s do so.

GBO!!!

Specifics of the posts that belong in the pub, please.
Or at least a general example.

I’m glad our team has an extra day off before the Belmont game. I think they all need a break (both mental and physical). As great as they have been overall this season, it’s still been a grind. They haven’t been as sharp as they were at the beginning of the season, but that’s not surprising, because it’s challenging to sustain the high level of play all season long. Have they already peaked? I’d be lying if I said the thought hadn’t crossed my mind. Coach V said several times that you want to be playing your best baseball in May and June. So far, in my opinion, they’ve scuffled a bit this month.

I’m glad the team as done well enough that Coach V has started “playoff mode” already with this home series and one road series left before Hoover. I think he’s managing the pitching staff well, especially Burns and Beam (to give them some rest).Honestly, I’m more concerned with our offense than our pitching. Jordan is in a bit of a slump, which I hope he breaks out of soon, and we had several guys strike out looking this afternoon. That’s troublesome moving forward. There have been inconsistent ABs from some in our lineup. I’m glad we have our depth in this regard. Hope that we get Jared back soon. The report from Coach V sounded encouraging. I’m also concerned for Evan behind the plate. He’s been quite the warrior all season, but I’m worried about him staying healthy through postseason. I hope that Charlie can help him with the catching duties as we move into postseason.

I realize that I’ve harped on a number of concerns above, but I’m also trying to look ahead into postseason as it rapidly approaches. It is comforting that we have so many veterans on our team that have postseason experience and leadership.

I don’t mind that we dropped to #2 in the RPI. We are still a top 8 national seed. Next weekend series at The Dude will be interesting. Curious to see how our team responds.

Very reasonable concerns and comments. Baseball is a grind but both teams on the diamond go through it so…. similar to playing in bad weather - KY last weekend.

Beck is def in a slump and that’s a bit concerning though as it’s been roughly 7 or so games. He’s around 2-21 over the past two SEC series w a few walks, too. He should be okay if he can maintain confidence.

I’d like to see less strikeouts and put the ball in play, or at least a sacrifice to move base runners.
Pitching was off today which was a bit of surprise but onto State next weekend. I wonder if the Vols will have the intensity as State is still fighting for post season birth.

In the FF it started with Girls of (whatever team we play next week), it got moved to the Pub eventually.
I got ya. I respect you guys and the ladies of this forum. If I have posted anything offensive or out of bounds, I truly apologize and will do better, as far as keeping on topic.

Just so I’m clear, most of the posts are harmless, if you can survive a couple weeks with @NorCalVol67 and @txbo you done good! I just wanted to broach the subject and see how everyone feels about it.
Look, I really enjoy “hanging” out with you guys and watching Tennessee baseball. It’s weird, I’ve never met any of you in person, but consider you friends. I don’t want to jeopardize that, so if I cross a line, please let me know.

You can’t cross a line that hasn’t been drawn. That’s what this is about.

I have a big family and my wife and I work hard. I don’t really have time to get out to bars or hang with the fellas. Coming here during games, having some beers, in the comfort of my own home, where I know my kids are safe, is important to me. So being able to hang with all of you has become something I really look forward to.

Other than the big family part…yeah we’re rowing in the same direction! I appreciate the conversation! Thank you!

Baseball, it is said, is a game of constant adjustments. As Snuffy Smith famously put it: Some days you get the bear, and some days the bear gets you. Opposition pitching has adjusted to our hitters. Gotta give them credit. We must adjust to that to be successful going forward. We have won the SEC pennant in a relentless drive to the finish line, getting there with five games left to play, and we don't have a choice but to play them, like today, and the team is likely going to go through a period of decompression and letdown after the months-long grinding buildup of pressure. We are playing teams hell bent on getting our scalp for their resume and fighting for their post season lives or best positioning/seeding. The only thing we have to play for in the coming four games is pride and seeding in the national tournament. I don't want to lose seeding in the national tournament, but I do want us to get ready for Hoover and beyond. We've accomplished a tremendous goal so far. We have four more games and a week and a half to decompress and get ourselves straightened out and ready for the postseason. I'm betting by the time we get to Hoover CTV will have us hitting on all cylinders again.
