Must have confused him with Turner in 2018Did I just imagine Bowden won SEC 6th man of the year?
Still remember my thoughts on how good Hubbs was gonna be coming out of high school. Iirc, he didn’t go to prep school, and instead played the 4 and 5 his sr year. UT may or may not have gotten him if he did, but I think he would have been better served playing his natural positions with/against better competition.
So it wouldn’t have benefited him playing his natural position senior yr? I understand the coaching change argument but don’t agree because none of them had him consistently playing out of positionSadly that 1 year with Donnie ball we had a few guys that kind of played out of position.
Hubbs unfortunately was here for 3 different coaches and I think that's what held him back. Recruited by Martin and played 1 year with him, then it was Donnie who for whatever stupid reason played small ball only and really had no front court (Derek Reese at 6'8" was the biggest guy that regularly saw the court) and then finally Hubbs had Barnes his last 2 years, which surprising no one were his 2 best seasons production wise. He was one of those guys that kind of stopped taking 3s though under Barnes.

Did Turner replace him in the starting lineup?
Yes. Bowden sitting for the tip was driven by the fact that he seemed to be nervous in a starting role and very relaxed coming off the bench. After they discovered that, they stuck with it.In 2018-19
Turner started 19 of 28 games he appeared in
Bowden started 5 of 36 games he appeared in
Pons started 13 of 35 games he appeared in
The 4 regular starters (all played in 37 games with 37 starts) were Grant Williams, Admiral Schofield, Jordan Bone, Kyle Alexander
Bowden however saw 27.8 mpg that season, which was 5th on the team
