The Official #11 Tennessee vs. #13 Baylor Game Thread, 9:30 PM ET, CBSSN

Looking over game stats I saw Baylor has 0 fast break points. Went back and looked through all 6 games and UT has only allowed 12 fast break points all season. 4 of those games allowed 0 points. Impressive.
Great win for UT and should definitely be top 8 when the polls come out.
You never know what the humans will do. Prejudice and bias makes those polls dead to me. Always go with KenPom and Torvik. They take the humans out of the equation.

I’m not sure why there is so much focus on the post game comments. The broadcast team was making the same excuses for Baylor in the second half of the game. Yes, it was annoying but I was more irked when I think it was the edgecombe kid took a three with about 5 minutes or so left and the play by play guy said “get in there”.
I heard Macy say that - what a douche. WTH? Just glad the wife had conked out by then - she might've broken something.

He's streaky. He shoots a lot of threes and only makes about 30% of them. I got no problem with the guy, but he usually has a few big shooting games early and then kind of doesn't have as many later. Not down on him, just - feels like he just tends to shoot more than he makes.
Yes, but driving the ball to the rim was really impressive as he took it to the hole several times last night.
I still don't feel comfortable with Barne's offense against a zone.
I think Barnes used the 2nd half to throw out a lot of combinations and to run set offenses for film study to show players.
Good game to take to the film room.

Certainly I'd rather have Carr getting reps in big games but him being injured has forced Barnes to play Dubar. Whatever home stuff is going on I'm sure playing in these intense games and getting wins has got to be huge for his confidence. Could be big for building depth as year goes on.

Dubar is much more ready to contribute to a title contender this year because of his size, strength and versatility. Carr will have practice and easier league games/blowouts to continue his progression and should be a key piece next year. Possibly late this season.

It's much more important for this team's success to get Dubar comfortable and confident. Dubar's shooting ability from 3 is on Carr's level and the rest of his game is better and much more physically capable right now. I really like the little I've seen of Dubar so far.

Not quite true, since ultimately Ken and Bart decide how their models work. But they decide ahead of the season, so they’re not reacting to every game. Having predictive rankings rather than only reactive rankings has been great, though. These rankings actually mean something.

no way is Barnes happy about the way they played this half
He is fine with it given the officiating, the game film teaching aspect, the Ballroom Gym, different combinations on the court. Every game is a teaching experience and the more data you can pull in, evaluate and relate to players is what coaching is all about. Sometimes you learn more about yourself in a win than you do when you lose.

This, exactly. 👆

Don’t understand why you arrive here since he’s only played the one season at UT? He was definitely streaky last season hitting a rough patch midway but pulled out of it towards the end of the year.

I mean, the person asked why are people were down on his play, and I was trying to think of the answer. And I don't know that he pulled out of it, as he shot 28% from 3 over the last fifteen games last year. I said I don't have a problem with the guy, he hustles, he plays hard, the poster just asked why people were down about his play. I think if that percentage could get up to 35 or so this season, it'll be a big help for Tennessee and people wouldn't be as down. In the first six games this year he's shot 37% - so far, so good. If he can do that all year, I don't think anyone will be down about him.
