Knew folks would have their eyes opened when they saw Key play. He's tenacious and smart. Really knows the game. Didn't get the point we wanted from the portal, but by the end of the season, we'll be thanking the basketball gods for giving us Key.Key is very good. Nothing flashy about his game, just a bucket machine. Philips can be very good. Reminds me of Keon Johnson. Biggest surprise was how good Plavsic and Aidoo looked.
I think they attention he got defensively helped free up some others to shine. Looks like Barnes will have a lot of flexibility with his lineup. Ideally if he could play Santi and JJJ fewer minutes during the season and have them fresh for March. Super deep team. Best we’ve been in the post since I can remember. And Santi had an off night.
Just finished watching the highlights and I agree. First thing I thought was how solid and most of all...experienced we are in the back court. Hate to keep harping on Key, but he might be the missing piece. He's not going to give us 26 every night, but he'll sure as hell keep defenses honest when Vescovi is on the floor. He's tough, mature and tenacious. I also like the way our front court is shaping up. Glad to see Aidoo maturing physically. He's got his legs under him much better than last season. Kudos to the strength and conditioning folks. Having 3 solid post players is a great luxury. Awaka just needs seasoning, but the kid is gonna be a brute. He's already got a solid body, but give him conditioning and add strength to an already impressive frame and you've got a budding force. As for Phillips, he oozes talent. He's got star power galore. My fear is that the lure of the NBA will take him at seasons end. Hope he takes a long look at some of the other one and dones and considers returning. When I think about what another year in the S&C program will do for his body, I drool over what he'll look like in year 2.Barne’s Best team to make a run …as is

Bottom line for me. While this team might not have the "star power", we've got the parts. We've got the depth. We've got the shooting. Most importantly, we've got the maturity especially where it counts in March...the back court. Of all Barnes teams, this one looks like it's got the goods to make a really deep run. Yeah, I know we've all thought and heard that before, but you can see the potential after watching this game vs Gonzaga.

Most of the time it was a shared role Key and Vescovi when ZZ was out of the game, but Key will be the primary. He won't be as quick or explosive obviously, but the dude is smart. He's that kind of player we all faced at one point or another if you played the game in HS. Not a tremendous athlete and shouldn't be able to get into the paint and get his shot off, but he's just so "sneaky" with the ball that somehow he manages to do just that. Key and Vescovi have such an understanding of the game that defenses can't really take us out of our offense by focusing on one individual. We had several time when all 3 were on the court together. Gotta say I really like that lineup. If I were a betting man, I'd say that trio will be on the floor at the end of the games. Edwards got limited time and I didn't see him do much from the highlights. Likely still adjusting to the the speed and physicality of the game at this level. Three guys I focused on were Key, Aidoo and Phillips. I liked what I saw. Key is the perfect example of the type of player I want Barnes to get. He even said they recruited him out of HS. He's not going to be that 5 star NBA one and done, but he's going to mature and get experience and at some point, he's going to give you advantages come March. Love that type of player. It's the kind that 'Nova always seems to go after and it's why year after year, they're considered "experienced". I've got a good feeling about this season. Thanks for this.
Who handled PG duties when ZZ was out? I saw from the box score that BJE didn’t play much so it looks like he doesn’t factor into the normal rotation this year.
They will be even worse after tonight. Good good…Tennessee vs. Gonzaga charity exhibition game Friday
UK fans not happy.
