I mean...all things considered...they are a dropped TD bomb and a foot out of bounds from being up 35-3 at the half.

I wanna see Sampson take over the RB gig I'm the second half not that I think Small or Wright are bad. Just think Sampson has another gear.

Defense has been stellar for the most part.
Didn't we still score that drive with foot ob?

Virginia Game Notes

Not going to complain with 302 yards of offense in one half and a 21-3 lead. Joe had to settle down as did our OC, but we should be up at least 28 to 3 if not 31 to 3 considering Sampson’s fumble. Joe was not the issue. Dee is really looking bad on punt returns as well. Seems he doesn’t want it. Run game and D did a great job. I would give the outing a B-.

Yeah they shouldn’t jump the gun on that either. But 18-22 for 308 yards is pretty solid for their qb, even against the Arky state reddies

Arky state is so bad, they'll make the UF QB heisman worthy.

No he doesn’t. Defense has been lights out. Major improvement from what can be seen so far. Defensive line is ferocious.

We are actually making textbook form tackles at nearly all positions on defense. This first we've seen this on The Hill for a long long time.

In case you haven't noticed they are going to rotate the running backs very heavily. That way the workload is spread out over time with less wear and tear on each of them. Seems to be working since the team has 168 yards rushing.

Your handle truly fits your posts. Only someone frequenting Hades would try so hard to make 306 total yards to 65 for UVA a bad thing. Good or bad, we are up 21-3 after one half. D has dominated the entire game and the offense is back rolling. The only thing about your wretched posting is normally I have you blocked. I am now going to excorcise a bad Volnation poster. 👎
I never said the defense played bad or wasn’t playing great. I said the opposite. Sorry you can’t read. This oline has no talent and it’s obvious when you look at the SEC teams we want to compete with and beat regularly. These coaches are great and can get it done but get ready for 9 wins at best because the lack of talent on oline is really going to be shown when SEC play starts. But if that hurts your feelings then feel free to block and “excorcise” away.

I thought Williams fumbled on a punt return?

Just because they’re in the ACC doesn’t equate to power 5 play. Every SEC opponent is much better than this team and would easily beat them. Our offensive line and special teams are going to cost us big against teams that have a decent defense. But yeah-let’s talk up UVA and ignore the glaring problems.
Why are you a fan...you did this same shtick all last year too...gtfoh

I’m not talking up Virginia. All I’m saying is they have more than anyone in the country to play for today and it’s showing. Set that aside, we are winning 21-3 and not playing so well. Michigan is ranked #2 and beating ECU 23-0….. shouldn’t they be winning 48-0 at halftime too? Get outta here man.

Halftime thoughts...

We're up 21-3, as a 28 point favorite. It should be at least 28-0. First game. It is what it is.

We were our own opponent at certain points in the first half.

It's UVA, and they're no good. No good in the ACC. Right there with Vandy in the SEC. So keep that in mind.

Love our run defense and pass rush. Secondary has work to do.

Like our outside run game. Inside, not so much. Sampson is special.

Joe Milton, at this point, is Joe Milton. He is going to wow you at points, and he is going to make you cuss at points. Get used to it.

Our WR's can be special. Right now, they're just good.

Today, right here, right now, this is a 9-3 team in the SEC. They can do better, or they can do worse. This team can beat every team on their schedule, and lose to 4 of them. Not up to me.

We all know that teams make their biggest improvement between Games 1 and 2. So I'll circle the UF game and say dominate in Gainesville and I like our chances moving forward. Otherwise, it's going to be another "I might need rehab at the end" type of season.

No matter what, I think we've got the right HC in Heupel. He is going to do great things. At UT. So take a deep breath.

Go Vols.
