Whatever it is - 3rd and X - they're gonna get that +1 or 2

So it sucks that they convert them all, but technically less yards they have to get, less total yards they get. That's my take anyway

statistically we’ve given up fewer 1st downs on 3rd and short this year than 3rd and long.
But
I did use the qualifier “almost”.
But clearly we all want a stop no matter the distance.
