The Official #13 Tennessee vs. Texas Tech Game Thread, 7:00 PM ET, ESPN

Let’s see if Barnes makes adjustments to win this game. No excuse for a horrible first half offensively as we look totally unprepared for Techs defense

2 layups go in and that charge that was a moving block and you're not saying what you said.
Oh, and hit just one more 3 maybe?

Also had him wide open 3 seconds before he noticed he was there. Basketball 101. Catch the ball in the high post and look opposite. Majority of the time the wing is wide open. He didn’t even look that direction.
Absolutely, was totally unaware of where the open spot on the floor should be. You would think as quick as he usually wants to get it out of his hands he would be aware of that.

Tech is pretty good on defense. You're not going to light it up against every team you play

Teams who play aggressive in your face D are going to give us fits this year until we settle down and find our chemistry as a team. Some of that takes time and familiarity playing together, some of that is just basketball IQ and finding the open man (ex: Plavsic should’ve found Bailey much sooner), and part of it is coaching to get the right team makeup on the floor.

I would like to think we will be better at all of these come tournament time.

Both teams worked hard.
This might come down to stamina, substitution play, and, more likely, a few fouls to the wrong players.
I'm concerned if it comes down to free throws.
Same here. Hoping we wear them down. I dont see us pulling this one out. Its a bad match up for this team. Hopefully fatigue sets in and our guards go off. I would like to see us use or speed more.

If’s and buts. Let’s see how it ends up. Again, this is where CRB needs to earn his elite salary

Well, I've said it a lot over the years. Don't wanna jinx myself, but I find that more often than not we adjust better in the second half after we've experienced what we're up against. I think it's bigger than just adjustments though. Gives the players some time to calm down and reconsider what they need to do different. You can prepare all you want for a team you've never played, but actually playing them is the real test of finding out what they are capable of...given that every team has their own strengths/weaknesses to consider. I'm not out of this one. I expect some of our guys to find some fight in themselves during the break. Only need 1 or 2 players to do so, which then opens up others.

Take being down 4 at the half all day. ZZZ and Bailey with your only makes from 3. Should bode well for the second half I suppose. Barnes has to get away from sitting Vescovi with 2 for that long.

Barnes needs to be chewing some butt over the effort on the boards.
You are correct, we are just Watching Tech hit the boards

I feel like we say this about Pat Adams a lot. Guy completely sucks at his job. Same one who screwed us with the Jarnell Stokes “charge” at the end of the sweet 16 game against Michigan.

Just Google “Pat Adams sucks” and marvel at the many search results hits you’ll get. Not just from us, either. He has quite the reputation at a lot of SEC schools.

He’s one of the worst and typically makes horrible calls against TN

Two tough teams. Only things that bother me are

1. Now trending, cold outside shooting against quality teams, even with open shots. Even free throws.

2. Getting beat in breaks. Rarely remember us getting raced on like we have in spurts. Can’t have mental lapses

Tough game so far. This is the kind of game that will shorten rotations as players separate themselves based on gameplay and not practice.

This is probably the best defense we will face all year. Chris Beard may be gone but his DNA is still there.
