I’m fine with it in a regular season game. Playoffs to determine the champion, yep. The NHL sees it the same way.

All the strength Spain had and yet they lacked a finisher without Costa. Amazing that Spain has a three deep at midfield (at nearly all three positions) but only 1 natural striker. I like Aspas but he isn’t ready for this stage. Maybe in 2 years at Euro’s.

Much like Germany missed the clutch scoring of Klose, Spain missed Torres and David Villa.

But it's not hockey. There are just 4 subs, so you got 6+ guys tired as hell and the longer they play the more the quality diminishes.

That was an awesome ending. That save was ridiculous.

I see Germany's problem as this:

1 - loss of the heart of the team in Schweinsteiger, Klose, Lahm

2 - lack of a world class striker

3 - philosophy change. Germany is a better counterattacking team, but they want to play the possession game

It's not really age. Most of the team is in their prime, no real difference in average age than when most teams win the Workd Cup.

Speed is perhaps something of an issue with guys like Muller but they also have Ozil and Reus who are quick.

I didn’t bring up hockey. Just responded to someone who did. I don’t like it. Give them more subs. Plenty of ways to change it. They won’t, I know.
