The Official 2022 FIFA World Cup Thread

Hard to do anything else with everyone laying on the ground.

Fair. Let’s be honest here, though, the real deciding factor today was the penalty that led to the penalty kick.

It was just such a dumb action to take so late into the game already leading.

(In my mind it’s the kind of “what are you doing?” like being up 3 late in a football game, then committing pass interference, and immediately following it up by ripping off a player’s helmet.)

I'm very much a casual USMNT observer, but they still, for like the 20th year now, lack the consistent ability/skill needed to make that final pass that sets up a goalscoring opportunity.

They aren't bad, they just aren't all that good either.

They would need what...a draw there, in all likelihood?

I mean, if they beat Iran, I think they just need Iran to beat Wales, right? I guess a draw also works in that scenario…I’m presuming Wales loses to England.

I’m rusty on my tiebreakers for the World Cup. Is it total goals scored?

Goal differential may decide our fate in the group stages.

Wonder if Pepi would have made a difference, definitely a goal scorer

US had its chance to basically punch its ticket to the second round and they f##ked it up. They better beat Iran like an red headed rented camel for tiebreaker points because they aren't beating England.

Gotta get up early if you wanna catch Messi.

  • 5:00 AM – Argentina vs. Saudi Arabia (FS1 / JP Dellacamera and Cobi Jones)
  • 8:00 AM – Denmark vs. Tunisia (FS1 / Jacqui Oatley and Warren Barton)
  • 11:00 AM – Mexico vs. Poland (FOX / Ian Darke and Landon Donovan)
  • 2:00 PM – France vs. Australia (FOX / John Strong and Stu Holden)

Anyone been able to find a good streaming site for the WC? US Military stationed overseas (Japan) and haven't been able to catch any of the games.

Five games in and we’ve already seen over 90 cumulative minutes of added time played. I get the lengthy addition in the first half of the England game yesterday because of the injury to Iran’s keeper, but nearly ten minutes becoming the norm is excessive just for normal stoppages.
