One of those “thanks for the information” but wish we were leading the pack vs. 5 from the bottom. I am handful for the improvements and team work. .

Averaging 2 wins per weekend will get Vols to 16 wins. That's normally enough to host a regional.

2026 is a different animal than 2025 or most recent years however, with all the west coast teams cleaning up in the Big10, that conference may get more host spots than normal as the NCAA will gladly let the UCALA, Nebraska , Southern Cal, and maybe even Oregon host as a sort of affirmative action program.

Big10 RPI

#1 UCLA
#13 Nebraska
#26 Oregon
#9 USC

The NCAA is seeding teams 1-32 instead of 1-16 as years passed. Therefore, should Tennessee get to 16 wins (and perhaps even 15 wins) and not host, they would become the second team in a #14-16 region. Right now, those 14-16 seeds are like Southern Miss, Florida State, Nebraska, West Virginia, Arizona State. Boston College

Bracketology nowe that I think about it. D1 is working on there's right now in the podcast.

This seeding 1-32 is likely a means to match SEC teams (and maybe ACC teams) against each other in regional play to appease the midwestern malcontents. Now the committee can just blame the seeds and not take responsibility./

Up to date D1 brackets. Will update as the podcast goes on

1 UCLA
... 16 Ole Miss

2 Georgia Tech
... 15 Florida State

3 Texas
... 14 Florida

4 North Carolina
... 13 Mississippi State

5 Texas A&M
...12 Nebraska

6 Georgia
... 11 Ole Miss

7 Kansas
... 10 Coastal Carolina

8 Auburn
... 9 Oregon State

I’m curious if USC will get to host. One of our kids was at their ballpark last week. It’s under construction. The only bathrooms for the fans are porta potties. There’s no internet or Wi-Fi for ticketing, so everyone got in for free. And with all the construction going on, the capacity is pretty small. A whole lot of things would have to change in order to host, in my opinion.

Seems like they could find a park out there to serve as the venue.

That's sadly true for so many west coast and non-traditional hosts. You can tell the NCAA bends over backwards to spread the hosting wealth.

Kentucky playing dirty when they hosted region is one of those times. Then think about Maryland, Duke, and others with almost no facilities getting to host in recent past. The Oregon schools and Stanford (sunken diamond) are quality stadiums but even UCLA's Jackie Robinson Stadium stinks as it seats less than !900 people.
