The Official #3 Tennessee vs Rhode Island Weekend Game Thread (Friday 2PM EST) (Friday 6PM EST) (Sunday 12:30PM EST OR 1PM EST)

I want to take a moment to say what I find inappropriate & embarrassing. These teams that come to play us like IONA, Rhode Island, etc. come here to make themselves better, it's a thrill for these teams, and they hope they can give it their best but as we saw this year, it just doesn't always work out, they can lose by a lot.

But what I have a hard time dealing with is this, Vol fans in the stands (like today) yelling stuff that they think is funny and a few people in the stands laugh at. Examples: Making fun of some names of the Rhode Island players, or the pitcher bounces one a few feet before the plate and here comes the demeaning comment, and more. There was a guy (20 years old?) who thought he was being funny and he wasn't. The one wearing the AFC West football jersey. Todays game (Sunday) we were all allowed to sit in the lower bowl and everybody could hear him. Some would laugh at his comments (not many), but we cringed. It was flat out mean & embarrassing. The score is 12 -3, let it go.

Welcome these teams and show some southern respect! They have every right to go back home and say "those Tennessee fans are a**holes". Like Coach Vitello says in his video played at each game, "this is someone's first time attending a a Tennessee game". I was ready to go over there and privately ask him to be respectful and can the mean comments. I know I can text a number, but I didn't have it and maybe next time I will quietly say something to him or her.

Maybe you can save it for the other SEC teams, I don't know. Go sit with the Legends and blend in. But rethink what you're going to say and remember, you're representing Knoxville and the University of Tennessee.

Damn straight! Be classy or GTFO. I am sorry that was your experience.

That's too bad. Rhode Island didn't have to come here. Today we were on the third base side above their dugout and had some of their fans around us. They remained positive despite the odds. I only heard a couple of cringeworthy remarks, perhaps there were more. Too bad.

Some ETSU fans (I think they were ETSU students) this season plopped down near us in our season ticket holder area. If you're a fan of the game and you keep it under control, happy to have you. But these guys had been drinking and they went too far. I was close to saying something, but other season ticketholders around us had a lower tolerance and told those guys to get lost, and they left.
