The Official #4 Tennessee vs #15 Kentucky Game Thread, Saturday 4:00 PM EST/CBS

I don't know why Barnes would call out Knecht. I do agree that sometimes when he is double teamed he is a little slow in passing to another teammates, but last night he was the only one willing to take it to the basket in a crowd. The rest of the team takes it in and throws it back out like they are scared. Dalton is fearless and Barnes should acknowledge that fact. Many times players just give it to Dalton and basically say go get us a bucket and he usually does.
If you haven’t figured it out by now, Barnes is brutally honest about his players. But they understand and love him off the court.

That said, while DK played great, there were about 2 possessions where he just chunked it up without at least trying to go to the basket or play within the offense. I thought it was pretty obvious those possessions stuck out differently than most we have seen.

This isn’t clever. We both know that was assuming Arizona didn’t lose to an awful USC team.
Our loss is way better than Arizona’s. Kentucky is just a tad better than USC. lol. I guess we will see if the conference tournaments truly do impact the committee with seeding. Interesting to see who advances further, us or Zona. The #1 seed is a big deal even if we have to travel. Will UNC ease into the picture now with their win at Duke?

I don’t know if anyone has said this or not (probably have) but we got totally intimidated in the paint for most of the game. I can’t believe that with how big we are! If I were Coach Barnes I would have told those bigs to go in there and hack the hell out of ‘em until you all foul out. Probably wouldn’t have happened cause the refs were not calling anything!

In a close game against a team like Ky, Aidoo can’t go 4 for 11. He is too critical to the team. If any of our “big 3” have an off night, it’s very costly.
Aidoo got punched in the mouth early, and retreated. 15 3’s is hard to overcome and win even at home. We always over help on defense and leave shooters open on the perimeter. Nothing will change going into the tournament. Although I will say that Sheppard hit 2 3’s yesterday in 1 on 3 situations in transition. He was the 2nd best player on the floor yesterday behind DK. That kid is growing with confidence and really starting to show out.

We were doing it too on their drives. Your orange tinted glasses can only see ot on one end
I am sure you are right and perfect and am so glad that you choose to spend your time dispassionately policing people's emotional responses during a game.

You probably think Wright didn't get in the endzone against Purdue, Gaffney actually made the 3rd down TD catch and Turner actually fouled the Purdue guard.

Perhaps there is an officials appreciation thread you can post in on all our behalf(s) and make sure they know how much we admire them and all the thankless work they do.

Of course my glasses are tinted orange! But that doesn't make the officiating good. Fouling in the paint on every possession isn't basketball. Just because a ref allows it, doesn't make it right regardless of whether the calls are even or not.

UNC is already back in the picture. IMO, they are a bigger threat with the opportunity to have more impressive wins in the ACC tourney than Arizona will in the PAC 12. They also have the H2H over us and the “blue blood” name. I think we need to win 2 in the SEC tourney.

If UNC wins ACC tourney, they’re a#1. Even winning the SECT, won’t change that now for the Vols. Reputation is real.

Look I’m somewhat jaded about things such as these, but my take is the last 1 spot will go to UNC now. The decision has been made and the committee’s rationalization will be constructed on future evidence.
