It’s awesome to see how these weekend series threads have grown as people have realized how good we are. We’re one game into a series against a bad team and this thread already has more comments than some threads did over all 3 games of a weekend series, such as the UGA thread. It seems we are now a B&B school. Baseball and Basketball. Football will come around too in time. Go Vols!

It was a gritty win last night. While there were numerous mistakes, our guys still had patience and won. They already have had plenty of experience grinding out this type of wins. We also know now that they also have the ability to score in bunches at any given time. They just need a spark. I've a feeling that we'll see better play from them today. Time to grab that series win!

On a related note, South Carolina was blanked at home last night by MS State. State scored 9 runs. The Gamecocks are currently in a hitting slump. It'll be interesting to see whether or not they'll be able to break out of their slump in the next few games. We may be seeing a desperate team in a few weeks.

Leiter has struggled his last 3 starts and Rocker struck out a bunch last night but also gave up alot of runs...they aren't nearly as dominant now

Yes, the same thought also crossed my mind. Plus, it'll be their last regular season homestand, so that adds another factor to the mix. Talk about timing.

Rocker was lit up by Bama last night for 6 runs in his 5 innings. Leiter has lost 2 of his last 3. Either these SEC hitters are peaking at the right time or Rocker and Leiter peaked too early.

Scratching a starter of his caliber at this point in the season just doesn't sound good at all to me.
