It comes from his performance as an announcer. He's not good at it. He just mouths company lines like how good the refs are or repeats mindless cliches like 'ball don't lie', and he doesn't add a whole lot with his analysis.
Well, as with most things, it's just a matter of opinion. And, imo, he's one of my favorite analysts out there. Yeah, I'm a bit biased because he's a VFL who got more out of his natural talent than almost anyone who ever wore the orange. That aside, I much prefer his no-fluff manner and his great insight into the game. Guys like Jimmy Dykes wear thin in a hurry. Anyway, just opinions.
 
I can appreciate his effort. That's what professionals do. It's better he goes out of his way to be unbiased. Even if it's noticeable, it's better than the alternative since he played at UT
Are you sure you're not just trying to be unbiased by being biased to the fact he played here and are actually failing to recognize his overt unbiasedness is actually a form of bias?
