ABOUT VANDERBILT

• Vanderbilt (8-7, 1-1 SEC) has split its first two games of conference play, defeating South Carolina at home last Tuesday in overtime, 84-79, before falling at No. 20 Missouri on Saturday, 85-82.
• The Commodores have played three true road games so far this season—grabbing an overtime win at Temple on Nov. 15, but dropping close contests at VCU on Nov. 30 and at Missouri on Saturday.
• Currently ranked No. 115 in the NET, Vanderbilt has played three Quadrant 1 games this season—neutral-site games against Saint Mary's and NC State and Saturday's game at Missouri. The Commodores dropped those three games by an average of just 5.7 points per contest.
• Vanderbilt head coach Jerry Stackhouse is in his fourth season at the helm of the program, having posted a 47-61 record so far in his tenure. The Commodores entered this season off their most successful campaign yet under Stackhouse.
• Fifth-year senior forward Liam Robbins, who is in his second season at Vanderbilt after transferring from Minnesota, is leading the Commodores in scoring (12.9 ppg), rebounding (6.0 rpg) and blocked shots (2.9 bpg). His 2.9 blocked shots per game rank sixth in all of Division I.
• Robbins, a highly-touted transfer prior to last season, was sidelined until February of the 2021-22 season by a foot injury. He appeared in 15 of Vanderbilt's final 16 games last season.
• In Rick Barnes' first season as the head coach at Clemson (1994-95), his Tigers faced North Carolina—led by the first-team All-American Stackhouse—three times. Stackhouse and the Tar Heels won all three meetings on their way to the Final Four.

NCAA Game Sim has Vandy as the 2nd toughest game remaining on Tennessee’s schedule…….just not this game.

Don’t ask me why….I don’t know, but it is.
They showing Bama a slight favorite over Tennessee. Then Tennessee a very slim favorite over Vandy at a Vandy, then Ark (Tennessee a 6 point favorite) then at A&M.

I’m guessing a lot of that will change as more data comes in and games get closer then more sims are played as well.

Will our hot shooting continue and will JJJ continue to play more minutes. Uros and Aidoo will need to keep the pressure on Robbins. All stats point to us winning going away but I’d still have a hard time laying 17.5

I’m not forgetting anything. I’m just inputting here what they have.

For now they have Tennessee winning the Texas game 65.4% of the time (51 times, 13 by 20 or more, Texas winning by 20 or more twice). The average score is Tennessee 72.4 & Texas 65.8.

The ones I mentioned were all very close and the only ones they had close percentage wise.

The only oddball being the A&M game; however as stated more data needed also more runs need to be made. They had Tennessee winning 6 of 11 but 4 by 20 or more, none by 20 or more for A&M…….that’s a huge oddball. They win 5 Tennessee wins 6 but Tennessee wins 4 by 20+.

I’m also not saying those will be the only tough games. If you go by the ESPN predicator the away KY and A&M games (right now) are the only ones dropping below like 81% (at 73 to 79%). I don’t think some of those games will be as easy as ESPN is thinking.

I definitely believe in this team but beating KY and Auburn on the road won’t be easy. If the sim is correct beating Vandy and A&M on the road won’t be easy. Ark and Bama at home will be tough……then you certainly do have Texas and “we” should definitely understand that won’t be easy (no matter what the predictions say).

Did you also have a hard time laying the 17 1/2 on the away game at SC which was beaten on the road by Vandy by 5? If you missed that one you lost out on one easy bet!

I don’t bet sporting events but I do find the line’s interesting. I would have had a hard time laying 17.5 on a conference road game.

Hate that it's a late start. I'm not too worried about Vandy. The teams in the SEC that worry me are the ones that can really score, not that I think anyone is going to just expose our defense. But if a team can score 65+ and we have an off offensive night then we're beatable.

Vandy scores 71.6 a game which is 5th worst in the SEC, the 4 teams below them... South Carolina, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and LSU (of course 3 of them had their averages crushed after playing us). But Vandy's defense is also bad 4th worst in the SEC, only Missouri, South Carolina, and Bama give up more points.

I say all that to say I think TN wins this game by double digits, just don't know if they'll cover that spread or not. Vandy has limited size (other than Robbins) they have just one player over 6'8" that sees meaningful minutes. I look for this to be a game where Julian Phillips (or JJJ) goes off a bit, he'll have a size advantage over anyone Vandy puts on him and if they try to defend him with a bigger guy he will have the ability to get around them.
