I agree. I like Bruce so long as we aren’t playing Auburn. He brought Tennessee basketball back to relevance, got us to our first elite 8, got us our first number 1 ranking and was ultimately fired for something that is completely legal to do in the current college sports landscape. No hate for the guy at all.

Although I thought the petition to bring him back was kinda classless.

Most of the team had big plays that helped seal the win. I don't know why Aidoo did not eat their big man up? Awaka hit key baskets and got big man rebounds. The long 3 by DK took their legs away at the end. I can't believe they hit 3 3 pointers from half court to keep it close. That run was a classic combination of defense creating offense.

We are 4-1 against teams in the Elite 8 and only lost to Purdue by four.

Let’s get it done.

Only lost by 4 to them in Hawaii. What I think is different versus the Maui Classic is that DK wasn’t fully integrated yet and ZZ was on minutes restriction from the knee recovery and you could tell he was rusty. Purdue is going to get our best shot. Edey will get his but the key will be to limit the others.

I think Pearl maybe reminded everyone of what the MBB at UT was capable of. But I agree that there was a slump after that (especially with the DT hire) that required a lot of ground work from Rick Barnes to build back up.

The whole panel has been good. Candace Parker has been an absolute superstar.

Bruce Pearl would crush it as the next Dickie V type personality for ESPN. I’m always ready to diss him, but he’s good at this. I guess he’s doing okay with the coaching thing too , but he’s gotta let Steven take over soon before the blue bloods poach him.

Pearl sounded very unbiased in his analysis. I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting him to take a shot or two against us.

I still remember a couple years ago when they played up in TBA and he referred to it as a “palace” and was nothing but complimentary of the Vols program.
He knows what’s up and they did what they had to do.
I sorta feel the same way I do about Kiffin- he realizes what he had and what could have been, but he can’t show it too much
