Obviously CBS wants to tap that huge UCLA fan base in Southern California. Fact is very few people in LA gives a rats patoot about college sports. Outside of USC football interest is pretty negligible.

As posted LA has a metro population of 12.8 mill. So how many on average watch the Bruins play in the Rose bowl. Well that would be 46,805 in 2024 which was down from 47,951 on 2023. Apparently not many people are excited about watching Maryland, NW, or Rutgers in a BIG game against the locals. I would imagine the local yokels are slobbering all over themselves about watching the Vols at 6:50

I watched the highlights of UCLA vs Wisconsin in the B10T. Their 3D was almost non-existent. Wisconsin bombed them out of the building.

I'm hoping Igor comes back pissed tonight about how he played against Wofford. We're gonna need to draw some fouls on their big 7'3" dude. I think our speed and movement might wear their big out too.

I was in high school and went to the game with a friend and his parents, the Omni in its day was cool. We played soft zone the entire game and got eaten alive. Plus everyone pretty much fouled out.

UCLA was loaded, I remember they had Marques Johnson, David Greenwood, Jimmy Spillane and Keith (Jamal) Wilkes ( I think). David Myers was also a post player on that team ( I think). I do remember they had a skinny freshman named Kiki Vandeweghe that got some playing time late. Only reason I remember him is because their cheerleaders were chanting “All the way with Vandeweghe” when he got in the game. It struck me as odd.

We had won maybe 14 in a row after that early season loss to Duke ( that had Giminski and Spanarkle).
thaf duke loss hurt. I was in knoxville to cover game for Duham Morning Herald

I got the assignment since boss knew that I could stay at my parents' house and preserve a bit of the sports dept budget

Really nervous about this game. You never know what team is gonna show up. Hope we stick with our identity tonight and play tough.
I hope we don’t jack up a bunch of threes. Instead, ZZ, Chaz, and Gainey attack the rim. Then kick it out as needed.

If Igor were going to be pissed about how he played, he’d have been pissed most of the year. I don’t think he is the kind of guy who has that in him. We just have to hope he can give us a good game at some point. He is capable of it, but there is no telling if we will ever get it or not.

3-7 against the Big Ten in the Tourney over the last 20 years.

1-6 in regulation

The Purdue Losses, the blown OSU lead, MSUs nailbiter, Michigan upsetting us.

Big Ten has found ways to inflict unimaginable pain in March

Time to exercise those demons
Except for this; Ucla isn't really a Big 10 type team. And all that history was vs real Big 10 teams. I don't consider Ucla one of them. (Pac10) Hell, they are from LA. Demographics matter.

I could not agree more. People love to make a big deal about the Los Angeles media market (understandably, it's huge!) and UCLA's foreign allure but I just do not see this translate into viewers in contemporary society. The school has a litany of titles across all sports but I just don't believe they're that popular in this current climate.
