Not only a game we finally won after playing more than 4 hours but a very frustrating game to watch. The Vols had the bases loaded like 5 times and could have beaten Alabama really bad in the 9 innings that's allowed if those runs had been knocked in when opportunities presented themselves. Plus, we had a home plate umpire that didn't know where the strike zone was half the time the game was being played. It was a long game to see who was going to be lucky enough to finally win it.

I had to read that twice just to be sure I wasn't seeing things. Really hard to imagine we're actually in this position...in UT baseball. Haven't sniffed this level of SEC success since Rod was having his contract year runs. Gawd, I hope we don't lose this coach.

If you are going to call just off the plate a strike, fine, just do it consistently.

And that was the worst call from a 1st base umpire since Don Denkinger.

I enjoy following these pages but it really gets old listening to the umps being blamed for everything bad. Umps make mistakes both ways.

Do you watch these games that are being played instead of just to enjoy reading posts made in these threads? If so, you'd understand our frustration why we come down hard on the umpires. It's not something we look forward in doing ..... the umpires do it to themselves with their stupid blatant calls.

Shamblin is from Lakeland TN Briarcrest Christian...RHP 23 Ks in 23 innings only 3 walks ERA 2.31 WHIP 0.78 might be a tough one to hit

With that great talent of his .... he should have signed with the TN Vols & played for his own state school.
