The Official #6 Tennessee @ Texas A&M Game Thread, 8:00 PM ET, ESPN

The 3s are the difference. They won't shot like thus in the 2nd half, hopefully.
Buzz saw something on film in the Vandy game imo, as their guards are quicker and attacking the rim. Then they crash the boards and getting second chance baskets.

I hate how players are allowed to carry the ball all the way up to the bend in there elbow when dribbling.
Same this gathering step garbage of giving 3-4 steps because they are driving is infuriating

It will be interesting second half if the refs tighten the game up. If they do, tn should be able to get back in it because a and m has been playing gorilla ball on defense more than we have for sure.
I thought he had swallowed the whistle the first half-- I can't imagine Adams not injecting himself into the second half.

Why are people saying this? I’ve been drinking, but have seen no issues with the officiating. I think a lot of yall just like to whine and make any excuse possible other than we just aren’t playing well.
They are too insecure to admit we are sucking so they always resort to this. It's 7 fouls for A&M and 6 for us. They are simply letting this play and the more agressive team is kicking the soft teams ass.

I don’t think we are winning this game, but we are certainly capable of a run and making me wrong. I don’t think we can possibly play much worse than we did that half.

Can’t play worse but can certainly play equally as bad. 14-point deficit. This team has serious trouble on the road against teams that play a lick of defense.

Very worried about how March is going to go now that the script is out. Just play hard-nosed defense and our veteran team gets rattled immediately. Thats the most frustrating thing. Barnes preaches physicality and not being out-touched and several times this year one of the most experienced rosters has gotten punked. Don’t know how you fix that.

We rebounded poorly against LSU . . . And are getting out rebounded again tonight. We played poorly in the second half against LSU. This looks like a continuation of that / our defense was really poor in the second half against LSU.

One of the biggest challenges as a college head coach is motivation. Sometimes your players get stiff, nervous, and shellshocked in a road environment. Barnes needs to earn his paycheck in the locker room here. Light a fire under their asses and have them come out this half with their hair on fire
I would agree with that, but these guys are veterans. Juniors and Seniors. Just no excuse for inconsistent play. I just don’t get it.

Well, that half was revealing. We can't defend their guards. A&M is shooting lights out on the perimeter which isn't supposed to be a strength. Our half-court offense is really pathetic. No ball screens, no off ball screens, too many perimeter shots and nothing in paint. That is on Barnes. Spreading this team out isn't working. And when A&M misses, they get the rebound. They are significantly quicker than us and it shows.

Zeigler is playing too fast. DK needs to be much more aggressive and everyone else needs to contribute. Game is far from over but we need to start dictating pace and make some stops to get back into it.

Does Barnes mess with their minds or something? There’s no explanation for how awful this team looks at times. Fulmer used to do something similar every time we played Florida.
Don't think it has a lot to do with Barnes, we're getting out played on the court. Can't cover their tall guards, no one is boxing out, and we're missing shots. SV and JJJ are played out. They only show up about 20% of the season.

I mean honestly what the actual f*** did Rick Barnes do to Pat Adams. The guy is criminal when it comes to officiating our games and it’s always been that way.
I honestly thought we got a better whistle than A&M in the first half

He’ll tear them a new one for sure. I just don’t see it being enough. Feels like everything is going A&M’s way, and we aren’t playing well enough to get things going our way. 20-25 point loss incoming I’m afraid. Hope I’m wrong.
If we lose by 20-25, that means TAMU makes 15+ threes. If that happens, congrats to them, complete anomaly. This isn’t a bad loss to take, I just hope we man up and make this a game in the 2H.

It's the worst rule in college basketball. Either review it immediately and if you screw it up, then go to the possession arrow, or don't blow the whistle to begin with.

Yep. Will never understand why the offense is punished for a potentially erroneous call. They give you the points and then if they magically decide to take them off even if you maintained possession there is nothing you can do.

Vescovi has regressed as much as I’ve ever seen any player regress. His shot is completely gone, he gets at least two stupid pointless fouls a game (see him diving on top of an A&M player on the ground tonight), and he can’t even stay in front of anybody anymore
His minutes needs to be reduced 99% , he offers nothing really except some pump fakes and JJJ is just a streaky shooter that you cant depend on

If I remember correctly on the block/goaltending the defense has to have clear to get the possession after so why was there not a review during the game?

Of all the problems we’ve had tonight, officiating has been way down the list. Honestly it hasn’t been that bad. Tennessee’s biggest enemy has been Tennessee.
