The Official #6 Tennessee @ Vanderbilt Game Thread, 7:00 PM ET, SEC Network

When Vandy's big man got into foul trouble I thought if they put in Uros he'll have him sitting on the bench in 5 min.

I know what you mean, but it could have easily been the exact reverse the way Shows & Co. were calling it last night. Uros may have looked "bad" at him and taken an intentional.

Overall, I don't think you should ever blame losses on refs, but when refs act like those three did last night I have pause.

What happened to Uros, played only 3 minutes the whole game.
2 fouls in those 3 minutes. On the second one Barnes just shook his head and benched him. Dumb fouls has been the Uros undoing. Doesn't seem like he's going to learn.

To me, it looks like he's trying too hard to play the tough guy role. He's just not doing it in a smart way given his established reputation for antics. I wish he would calm down, loose the antics, and get back to doing what he actually can do pretty well when he's focused - defense and rebounds.

These skinny weak 6'10 or 6'11 freshmen are not helpful
At least they can run the floor shoot better than e have except maybe AWAKA, and can block shots. From what I have seen, they can even dribble the ball. They also seem to keep the ball over their heads so the Guards can not steal the ball. I think our inside game will be better than it have been in the last 3-4 years.

Absolutely bad loss but I thought the TO Vandy called and the refs adding .8 sec was very questionable. To me, I thought the referee was raising his hand to stop the clock before the Vandy player came set and signaled for a TO. I understand the referee is told a TO is going to be called, but he can't anticipate it before it is physically asked for. With that said, we only score 63 points against one of the worse defenses in the SEC, we deserve to lose. This team better find something within itself soon or it will be like ever year, 2nd round is our ceiling.

We scored 65.

Something similar happened at Vandy 40 years ago. TN lost about a 10 point lead with around a minute left. Without the 3-point shot. Phil Cox made a lot of free throws iirc.

I still believe in the TN jinx. or curse. I mean, when ranked 1 or 2, 1 win in 7 or 8 tries at Vandy. And I probably jinxed Vescovi too. I uttered Money and my son who I talked into watching the last few seconds of the game yelled Jinxed em. Woe is me.
At least the jinx is improving. The Fulmer curse-the Manning curse--they are all gone. Now, it's the top ranked curse. I'll take that right now.

when he first got here-- he seemed humble. Now, he is very temperamental and extreme. When he is on, he is great for our team-- we've seen it. I wish he could tone it down plus learn to shoot free throws. Would be a major help to our team.

Did we have fouls to give and if so should we have fouled once they inbounded the ball. It would have taken a couple of seconds off the clock.
I think we only had 4 or 5 fouls in the half but I’m not sure and could not find out by the box score.

Edit. I just found out we had 6 fouls so our next one would have sent them to the foul line.

Was this supposed to be blue font?

Spoke to an old friend of my father's who has coached at the college level as an assistant for many years.

Says Barnes is a very good coach...... We all know that.

Says this years team could really use a good slashing forward but thinks the offensive and defensive scheme are not complimentary. Says athleticism beats us at points in the games when we go to the bench. Says this team plays pretty solid defense all the time but struggles offensively too much to be elite.

Says he thinks this team could get hot but thinks we exit on the first couple of rounds in tournament.

Vandy’s guards were far better than our guards in this game. It wasn’t even close. Vescovi made some timely perimeter shoots to his credit, but missing the front end of 1x1 followed by leaving the shooter in the corner for the game winner was on him especially if Barnes said to not give up perimeter shot.

Zeigler played just horrible. Two of his fouls were just poor decisions (one which bailed out Vandy), couple unforced turnovers, a very poor decision to play hero ball and launch a poor shot with about 3 minutes to go when there had been no ball movement, a poor decision in the lane when Robbins blocked his shot . This was the first game that I can remember when his defense really had no impact. Vandy could drive to rim, drive and dish, and do basically what they wanted throughout.

James likewise was a no show on offense and gave up 2 sure fire defensive rebounds and just fumbled the ball to Vandy for a bucket and 1 FT.
