He is a good guy but in a bad spot with the Bruce love hanging over him. That being said, his basketball was boring and he underproduced with his talent.I was and still am a Cuonzo fan. I lived the first month of my life about a block from Lambert Fieldhouse. I didn’t like his playing a victim card here and he seemed to jump ship several times just before they sank, but I do think he’s a good guy.

At some point he would have ran away. That'swhat he does the moment times get tough. No way he would have made it this long.He had only been a head coach for 3 years before coming to UT. The timing was bad as he was the opposite of Bruce and there were many loud and pissed off Bruce fans. It didn’t help matters that Bruce stayed in Knoxville and was maintaining a high profile. Cuonzo was defensive minded which normally is well received here. But I think he still is making those crowd deflating, momentum killing time outs after scoring late in close games so he can set up his defense. He also coached our only game in decades without a made 3-pointer. Duke iirc. And also one of our lowest scoring outputs since 11-6 versus Temple in 1973. Georgetown. He’d probably still be coaching UT had he not immediately followed Bruce.
From watching Saint Joseph - Villanova game I think SJ will have a very hard time scoring against UT. They don't have much of an inside game and shoot far too many 3s. We have a really talented backcourt and I dont think SJ is prepared to attack against it.
I do think they play pretty hard defense and nothing will be given to us easy. I think we cover, but mostly due to a great defensive match-up.
