Fair point, but to completely throw it in the garbage for this? I don’t buy that. A little bit of adjustment or a new wrinkle would have helped immensely (especially against Arky and this game) but we kept doing the same, tired, predictable stuff. You have to adjust and innovate around what you have to work with, so to accept that this is as good as it gets with this roster doesn’t fly for me.
Exactly this. I had written almost the same thing and literally deleted it. We have a small donor pool. Our student body is small comparatively. Our football money is small comparatively. This is just a fact. We can still compete, but we need sustained money to build an advantage and a dynasty. Either that, or we truly need the next Saban as head coach…..wherever he may be.Don't believe that at all. Texas A&M spent the money for a top class and Ohio State just did it with 20 million in the portal and their last class. Tennessee absolutely can do it, we just won't do it. Ohio State is spending money to win every year and we're spending money for a shot to win every 4 or 5 years.
What Heupel ISN'T is Kiffin and really creative. His offense owes a lot to spread guys who've come before him and less to his innovation or wrinkles.Fair point, but to completely throw it in the garbage for this? I don’t buy that. Both PSU and ND would have spanked us, too. Maybe not as badly as OSU did, but both would have beaten us by 2 or more scores. This OSU team went to Happy Valley and did the same thing to Penn State. The CFP committee knew what they were doing when they assigned TN to travel to OSU instead of PSU or ND.
It did seem a lot this year that Nico had too much going on in his head. I imagine with the helmet mic they are confusing the hell out of himIt's an unpopular opinion but I feel like that playbook that worked for Hooker and Co may require skills that most college players don't possess and Heupel knows it.
It's not exactly the same but something like tossing a pro playbook at high school kids. You can do that but they won't run it very well.
