Not specifically tonight, but I think the tighter strike zones are helping the offenses in college. This is my observation over the last few years, and I think an analyst might have mentioned it this year, too.
Tons of articles and talk on this topic this year. The general consensus is that it isn’t pitching being “bad,” as ERAs are up across the sport. Rather… it’s a tighter zone being called (due to pitch tracking that is grading umps) forcing pitchers to throw it over the plate more. That combination = more hits/runs and the perception that “pitching is worse/bad”
