Boone knew it too. Dude went straight up with the arms as soon as he hit it. Crank up the bus, and the Sinatra baby.

Wakefield had to know it the moment it left his hand, too.

yup, have yet to forgive him for that. That's tough too cause he's a good Texan.

That or the 1st baseman who, will remain nameless, for letting a ball go through his legs.

failure. Buckner is a fairly popular guy in New England and has been for some time. He wouldn't have made an out on that play anyhow. McNamara putting Schiraldi in was my focus of blame, if i needed one, he had been off and on since september.

Theres Sox fans here, but the majority are obnoxious and over the top. Makes it impossible to actually talk baseball on a thread populated by pink hats and their NYY counterparts.

I hear ya jtrain, but gah sounds like he's not one of those guys. Im looking forward to talking some hard ball with yall in the upcoming season, but to address those over the top dudes, its the nature of the boards.

I think both can chalk the Front Runners up to being a successful franchise.

Still doesn't change the fact I dsepise them.

Oh I hate em too, but conversation is conversation. Its like me as a Stros fan talking to a White Sox fan. Cant stand em, but in the end, there's baseball and I like talking about it.

i hear ya tx, looking forward to the new campaign. I'm pretty optomistic about the Old Towners, as always, its a matter of how the cards fall.

I dont get the Theo love, Lackey will probably turn out fine, but Cameron and Adrian Beltre? What the hell?

Looking forward to seeing Ryan Westmoreland once JD heads off for his annual month on the DL.

Not over the top for sure, I love to talk baseball...it should be fun again this year.

Lackey has pitch well against New York, he is solid...if Dice-K can be our 3 Lackey can be our 4, with Wake at the 5...solid rotation.

Beltre is for D, he can't hit like he used to but his D is still elite...he is a pull hitter, so maybe he will benefit from the Green Monster. Cameron is the same story...his D is still very good...don't be surprised if we go hard after a few folks come the deadline.

Theo has rebuilt the farm system and Boston has won 2 WS while he has been Gm...probably where the love comes from.

I just dont see how either position is upgraded as more than a band aid. It strikes me that management got these guys for the sake of making a move.

Lackey has beaten New York, but he's been mediocre at Fenway, wel'll see how it turns out. Still, i grade the offseason a C-, without Lackey it's an F.

I think that Beltre will have a comeback season...something like a .280, 25 HR, 85 RBI year, plus his stellar D allows Kevin to stay at first..Cameron on the other hand I'm not sure about, his D is still good but his bat is suspect, plus he whifs a lot. He still has pop though.

Cameron's best days are behind him.

Don't forget about Scutaro...he plays good D as well...Theo is going for defense and pitching...hope it pays off.

Well his average has never been good, but his power is still the same as it has been... he won't give as many steals as before but that is what Jacoby is for...he still plays good D even though he has lost some range...which is fine while at home because of the way that Fenway is built.

Or a neutral fan interjecting with nothing to add.

We had our opening arguments, now it's strictly baseball talk.
Wasn't even really talking about the discussion in this thread. This wasn't that bad. I'm referring to your average Sox fan and your average Yankee fan arguing in person.

Just wanted to throw that comment in there, I understand that it wasn't necessary.
