On October 17th, 1982, 95,000 fans packed Rocky Top to witness an unforgettable showdown between Tennessee and Alabama. In a thrilling shootout, the Vols triumphed over the Tide 35-28, marking their first victory over Alabama in twelve years. Tennessee quarterback Alan Cockrell completed 18 of 29 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns, while Chuck Coleman ran for 139 yards and a touchdown.

On Oct. 30, 2004, the Vols won their 12th consecutive game vs. South Carolina with a 43-29 win in Columbia. The Vols exploded in the third quarter as Erik Ainge threw three TDs and Cedric Houston ran for 190 yards with runs of 37, 54 and 65 yards.

On October 13th, 2018, Tennessee went to Auburn and beat them 30-24. The Vols’ offense entered the game ranked No. 94 nationally in third-down conversions, but Guarantano dissected the Tigers’ secondary on those downs with 11-of-14 passing for 188 yards and a score. The Vols converted 10 of 19 tries on third down.

Travis Henry tallied 197 rushing yards on 32 carries as Tennessee defeated Arkansas 28-24 on Nov. 14, 1998.

The win kept the Vols' championship hopes and undefeated season alive. The rest is history as Tennessee went on to defeat Florida State in the first-ever BCS National Championship.

Sterling Henton, famously known as "Sterl The Pearl," played QB for the Tennessee Vols from 1987 to 1990. During his time at Tennessee, he racked up 1,238 passing yards, five passing touchdowns, 187 rushing yards, and five rushing touchdowns. He played under the leadership of head coach and former Vol Johnny Majors.

Arian Foster rushed for 139 yards on 21 carries, scoring a touchdown. Lucas Taylor had a standout performance, catching 11 passes for 186 yards and a touchdown. Tennessee outgained Mississippi State 470 to 338, securing a 33-21 win.

Jim McDonald took over as Tennessee's head coach in 1963, the first year that Hal Wantland was on the Vols' varsity squad as a sophomore. Wantland carried the ball 51 times for 183 yards and four touchdowns while passing for another four scores that season.

His two best performances that season came in big games. He caught five passes for 182 yards and two scores in the Vols opener vs. California, and he hauled in five passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns vs. LSU.

On November 28th, 1998, Tennessee scored in every quarter and blasted Vanderbilt 41-0. This win gave The Vols the SEC East Crown outright. Peerless Price caught seven passes for 181 yards, and a touchdown, the yardage being a career-high.

Montario Hardesty ran for three touchdowns, including a 20-yard game winner in overtime, as Tennessee outlasted Kentucky 30–24 on November 28th, 2009. This was the Volunteers' 25th straight victory against their border rivals. Hardesty also ran for a career-high 179 yards.

Dylan Sampson etched his name in Tennessee history once again, breaking his fourth single-season record of the year in victory at Vanderbilt (11/30/24), finishing the game with a career-best 178 yards on 25 carries, improving his season total to 1,485 to break the program record of 1,464 set by Travis Stephens in 2001.
