Go to the message box at the bottom or open a reply box. Tap into the box. Tap the photo icon. Tap the drop image box. Choose photo library. Choose photo. May need to give it a couple of seconds to load. Wait. Choose save. 🥰
Always seems to work best on this site if I save the image or gif and post from my photos.

For me, I just do this (iPhone):

1. Touch the pic you want to post until the menu pops up. Select Copy.
2. Touch the reply (text) box where you want the pic to appear. When the menu appears, select Paste.
3. You’ll see a greyed version of your pic - look below it. Wait for the Uploading message to hit 100%, and then for Upload image. When these messages stop, and the pic is bright hit Done and post.

Good edit (last paragraph). This is especially true for some gifs, which can get cranky. But most regular pics (not from a gif site) will go straight to a post here.

What am I doing wrong? Why does it post a link instead of the actual picture? Do I have to host it somewhere or should it post straight from my Google photos?

I have no idea. If it was troll free? Either a bunch turned over a new leaf or he was swinging. As long as e’rbody got along don’t matter to me.

Same here (iPhone.)

I would be flabbergasted if Google didn’t do much the same, but who knows.

When you have your pic showing in Google Photos, is there a button at the top right or top left that brings up a drop-down menu? If so, is there an option that just says “copy”, not “copy link”? If so, select that one.

If you’re trying to share a photo from the webs, go to the share icon to save the url then post in the url slot of the drop down.

It may be below after a share icon at the bottom…
