Some Lions thoughts from the first two weeks of camps:
1) It’s unbelievable how everyone who was part of the Patricia regime has basically either taken a direct shot or roundabout way of saying it’s so much better now. Patricia might be the worst coach in Lions history and my God is that saying something.
2) Part of this is a talent issue, but we already have three starters from this years draft class in Sewell, McNeill and St. Brown. And Onwuzurike will probably be later in the year once he gets healthy. That’s an awesome haul.
3) Seems like Goff is really happy in Detroit and has played well so far. I wish our receiving corps was better To help him out some, but with our RB/TE group and OL I think he could put up some good numbers.
4) Speaking of numbers, for you non Lions fans…if you play fantasy football draft TJ Hockenson. He’s going to have a 100 catch season if he plays 17 games.
5) I actually think our defensive line can be good if we stay healthy. A lot of talented depth and some intriguing pass rushers.
6) I still don’t trust the LB/DB group even with a bounce back year from Okudah (which I think we get).
7) Campbell is easily the most enjoyable coach I’ve heard from any of my pro teams when it comes to press conferences. He’s knowledgeable (he’s a grinder, not a meathead…there’s a difference), he’s honest, he’s a great quote every time…he truly enjoys being the Detroit coach. I’m not sure I’ve ever wanted a coach to succeed more out of my teams from a personal level.
