Year 3 of the rebuild and we built an offense to run though Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks
FUN TIMES
You guys are trash on the court right now, but Jalen Duren is gonna be really good. Ivey is raw as hell, but dudes cannot stay in front of him. He just needs work. You get Cade back and very likely end up with a top 4 pick, and wherever you land (Scoot, Victor, or with one of the Thompson twins), whoever it is can slide right in with your young talent. In a year, you're gonna have very different problems (figuring out the pecking order, etc.).
It was more tongue in cheek. They had some luck during that title run and got Rasheed for essentially free to win the title.
My guess at the 2024 rotation
G- Cade, Morris
G- Ivey, Burks
F- Bogey, Harris
F- Stewart, Ausar
C- Duren, Wiseman
Others: Sasser, Livers, Bagley, Hayes, minimum vet guy
So in theory, that's not a play in team by any means. You would need significant jumps from two of Cade/Jade/Duren, you need Ausar to be a solid player and you need Wiseman and or Bagley to play defense. That's asking a decent amount. Bogey/Harris can't play together, but you could combo Bogey/Ausar and Stewart/Harris, something like that to help on the defense. Plus the Pistons are going to have $50M in cap space in 2023-2024 with a pretty interesting FA class. And they have a coach that actually likes young players in Monty who I think is at least worth a 5 win increase himself. We will see. If everyone is healthy, they should at least be interesting to watch.
Teams at the bottom are so good right now. Wizards and Hornets will probably be pretty bad, but Magic and Pacers ought to be better and Bulls aren't likely to fall off. Maybe Raptors do a little bit? That race for the 10th spot will be tough.
And looking at the west is even nuttier. Blazers are probably last place. Spurs and Rockets will likely be the 13 and 14 spots, but are they actually going to be bad?
why outbid yourself? Who is knocking down the door in 2024 to pay Isaiah Stewart $64M?
