Year 3 of the rebuild and we built an offense to run though Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks

You guys are trash on the court right now, but Jalen Duren is gonna be really good. Ivey is raw as hell, but dudes cannot stay in front of him. He just needs work. You get Cade back and very likely end up with a top 4 pick, and wherever you land (Scoot, Victor, or with one of the Thompson twins), whoever it is can slide right in with your young talent. In a year, you're gonna have very different problems (figuring out the pecking order, etc.).

Unfortunately it’s not going to matter until Troy Weaver grows a pair and fires Casey. Casey can’t work with young guys and it’s obvious. The core is really solid but I’m concerned we don’t have one wing we can rely on.

It was more tongue in cheek. They had some luck during that title run and got Rasheed for essentially free to win the title.

IMO, the only luck you had was that the Lakers limped into the finals, and that kind of injury luck applies to 1/3 of titles, so I don't see you guys as some team who used up all their good fortune. Rasheed was a great acquisition for you, but he was a stay away for a lot of teams for good reason.

My guess at the 2024 rotation

G- Cade, Morris
G- Ivey, Burks
F- Bogey, Harris
F- Stewart, Ausar
C- Duren, Wiseman

Others: Sasser, Livers, Bagley, Hayes, minimum vet guy

So in theory, that's not a play in team by any means. You would need significant jumps from two of Cade/Jade/Duren, you need Ausar to be a solid player and you need Wiseman and or Bagley to play defense. That's asking a decent amount. Bogey/Harris can't play together, but you could combo Bogey/Ausar and Stewart/Harris, something like that to help on the defense. Plus the Pistons are going to have $50M in cap space in 2023-2024 with a pretty interesting FA class. And they have a coach that actually likes young players in Monty who I think is at least worth a 5 win increase himself. We will see. If everyone is healthy, they should at least be interesting to watch.

Teams at the bottom are so good right now. Wizards and Hornets will probably be pretty bad, but Magic and Pacers ought to be better and Bulls aren't likely to fall off. Maybe Raptors do a little bit? That race for the 10th spot will be tough.

And looking at the west is even nuttier. Blazers are probably last place. Spurs and Rockets will likely be the 13 and 14 spots, but are they actually going to be bad?

It’s crazy. I could see the Rockets winning 20-25 games or 40-45 games. Same with the Pistons, the Spurs, the Pacers etc. I’m not sure the league has ever been this close together.

i don’t think I can ever remember how many teams could win the title and it not be a shock. Nuggets, Lakers, Kings, Warriors, Clippers, Celtics, Bucks, Heat, 76ers, Cavs. I think all those teams could win a title given the right circumstances.

$16M/year to a 6’8 C who has gotten worse every year offensively 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻

why outbid yourself? Who is knocking down the door in 2024 to pay Isaiah Stewart $64M?

The more I thought about it the less I hate it. He is competent. The cap is going way up. That 4th year will be like $18m. Right now that's 14% of the cap but by 2028, that's gonna be 9%. Say he bumps up to a 36% 3p shooter, that's gonna seem like a bargain. He's a really good rebounder. I don't love the foul to block ratio but he's young enough that he'll be peaking whenever this continued rebuild is over. He's a dog.
