KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Back on the turf after a couple days off, the No. 12/16 Tennessee Volunteers host Eastern Kentucky for a midweek game on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. ET at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
Tennessee (22-10, 5-7 SEC) finished the series strong against second-ranked Florida, posting 14 runs in the finale and finishing it off in style with a walk-off home run by Griffin Merritt to run-rule the Gators on Saturday.
Drew Beam was stellar on the mound, tossing seven innings and allowing just five baserunners and two runs while punching out 10 Gators' hitters in his fourth victory of the season.
The Vols' pitching has been outstanding in midweek play this year, shutting out their opponents in the last three midweek games. For the season, UT has a 2.99 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP, which both lead the conference and rank second nationally.

VOL WARS: BREAK OUT THE LIGHT SABER
Tennessee has been putting its new home run celebration to good use this season, as the Vols rank 10th nationally and third in the SEC with 60 home runs entering play this week. UT hitters have donned a Darth Vader mask with a light saber in the dugout following homers this year.
So far this season, 15 different players have gone deep for the Big Orange. Eleven of those 15 players have hit multiple homers, led by Blake Burke (11), Griffin Merritt (9) and Zane Denton (8).
UT has homered in 22 of its last 25 games and has gone deep multiple times in 19 games this season. The Big Orange posted their 10th contest with three or more homers in last Saturday's 14-2 win over Florida.
GOING FOR FOUR
Tennessee has pitched a shutout in each of its last three midweek games, blanking Lipscomb (March 14), Western Carolina (March 21) and UNC Asheville (March 28). The Vols have recorded seven shutouts overall this season and also did so in their first midweek game against Alabama A&M on February 22, which was their home opener.
TWO TUDDIES WORTH OF RBI
Senior third baseman Zane Denton has driven in 14 runs over the past 10 games, which is double the next closest players on the team (Christian Moore & Griffin Merritt).
OPPONENT SCOUT
Eastern Kentucky Colonels
Tennessee hits the road as it heads to Fayetteville, Arkansas to take on the Razorbacks in a three-game series beginning Friday night at Baum-Walker Stadium with first pitch scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
