The Official Kentucky @ #4 Tennessee Series Thread (Fri. April 18th 6:30PM EDT) (Sat. April 19th 6PM EDT) (Sun. April 20th 1PM EDT) All Games SECNET+

I hope you know the answer to this even though I'm somewhat embarrassed to ask:

1. How fast is Doyle's fastball?

2. Why do you think he's as good as he is? I think he has a good plan of how to pitch each batter and has the control to execute the plan, but I can't tell if his velocity is well above average.

3. What do you think the average fast ball velocity is in the SEC?
1) He's throwing his fastball 94-96 I'd say. Pissed they didn't have radar gun going.
2) N/A
3) Not sure of the other pitchers fastball is but like 96-99.

Good win by our Vols tonight. CP with a great offensive game………. Hope he stays hot and becomes the hitter we thought he would be. Big Saturday match up tomorrow………. Hope big Marcus gets back on track, our last two Saturday outings not so hot. Win the series tomorrow……..Go Vols!

We were looking for the radar gun reading and didn't see it.

I wish the SEC mandated a radar gun be used and the speed displayed because I believe the SEC is so good and so well respected that other conferences would desire to be like the SEC.

Another game where the top 1st posters left early. Kind of a shame, they missed a heck of a play by AA!
Certainly not one of those posters, but catching up on what I missed, by reading through the thread and building toward the climax of the highlight video (--if it turns out we won).

edit: WE WON!

During the radio broadcast, early to mid way of the game, Redmond remarked about a 97mph pitch, and later one at 98mph. He spoke like he was reading it off the readout, not just opining.

Thank you. My roommate mentioned that he heard a comment on the radio broadcast, but wasn't sure where they (Redmond) got the info.

Just from watching the game, it seemed like he was in the upper 90s and that's we looked for a display of his actual speed. Normally, I wouldn't care, but I think Doyle's fastball is elite and has enough control that he can confuse batters with a mix of fast balls and off speed pitches.

For whatever reason, I like his demeanor on the mound too. I'm not sure why to be honest.

There was a radar gun in use (announcers mentioned pitch speed multiple times). People in the stadium can see it. Mentioned Doyle hit 97 multiple times and 98 at least once.

The graphics on these SEC+ games (at least when we are the home team) are abysmal. They often have balls/strikes wrong, men on the wrong base, etc. Asking them to flash up pitch speed is probably well beyond their limited skill set…..

Agree on the graphics. Hope they have a VN insider and are reading the feedback
