On TOS, BH has said that he knows LT wants to be considered for the position in the event Wilcox leaves...

What's funny is that he left Saban and I don't think Bama went down. I actually think Eddie Gran was a better recruiter. But there a lot of good recruiters out there. Glad to have LT here but he's not the linchpin of our program.

Not to disagree but thats like saying the loss of Steve Avery didn't bring down the Braves rotation of the 90's. I agree about Gran but with the state of our program and the current staff, losing LT would be a bigger blow imo.

I'll leave any coaching changes in the hands of CDD. If he wants LT for the Coordinator, great. If not, I'll trust him.

Personally, I do not think Derek Dooley has the luxury of taking a risk on a new, unproven defensive Coordinator. We are already low on talent and low on numbers. Lance Thompson is extremely valuable to our program, but IMO Derek Dooley is going to go get a proven DC. Case in point, Fulmer hiring Dave Clawson. Did not work out so well for Fulmer did it?

I know LT has made a mistake or two but so have I. I like the man and his willingness to stick it out thru the last 2 years. He recruits Georgia and CDD knows that area is critical for our program. One BIG plus for LT in my book is that his distaste for "little lane" is second to none. IMO he deserves consideration for that reason alone.

I hate kiffin with a passion, should I be considered?

JMO but Wilcox is/was a new unproven DC.

Boise certainly hasn't struggled on the defensive ball since his departure.

When I watched their game last night I wasn't impressed with that defense. I think Utah stopped themselves by playing careless and undisciplined. They negated a lot of big plays that were made.

If VolBall777 can recruit, coach a position, work 18 hr days, keep our players out of trouble, feed smokey on the week days, and keep VN posted on all inside information, then I do think you should be considered.

Not really unproven but I don't known that he was ready for the grind of the SEC in his first year. It took a while to get the defensive substitution problems fixed and that was squarely on Wilcox. I think Justin would've been a future great DC but he didn't set the world on fire first yeat and I haven't seen him tearing it up on the recruiting trail. If he leaves it is a loss but we can do better.

Lance will probably be looked at, also Steele. Dooley wants to bring in someone who is comfortable with the staff and will not implement a bunch of changes. Most guys are going to want to bring in their own staff and we've had too many wholesale changes over the past few years. Expect someone Dooley has worked with or at least someone off the Saban coaching tree.

I think Lance will stick around though even if he doesn't get the job if he is compensated like a DC.

Give him a raise and a new title. DC!
Who cares about his past he has learned a ton since then and could be great just give him a shot.

Lets face it with out LT we are nothing on the recruiting trail and a failure as a football program.

LT, Thanks for sticking with UT even through all this crap.

Learned from his past? Not exactly.

i doubt he even wants the job.

LT is a terrific coach and recruiter. It's great to have him on our staff. When the right opportunity comes along, he will take the next step up in his career. It may be DC or HC somewhere. Doesn't matter. He has been all Vol since he arrived here and will continue so. And we will miss him all the while wishing him good luck in his new job. Then the next LT will come in and be great. The beat goes on.
