Lots and lots of throwing the coaches under the bus in the FF. Leave it to PJ to add some sense to the discussion:
"Actually if the players had executed they would have won. Hit the fg, catch a TD pass, don't hold, know where you are in the end zone, etc. The coaches weren't great but they were put in enough situations where they could have won"

The coaches probably could have done a better job, but consider the disastrous on-field mistakes that were made, as well.

Yeah a lot of people are blaming coaches. Apparenntly our coaching staff is mediocre.

It seems like every loss we get "Out-coached" or some bull like that.

On the other hand, loudest game I've ever heard at Neyland. The fans brought it. The energy was there. OU made adjustments at half. We didn't.

It was painful for a few minutes after. But these garbage seasons that we've had for a while has killed the part of me that cares.

Right there with ya

Is it Dobbs inability to drive the ball downfield or is it the offensive scheme in general?

....sigh.

We made mistakes, but the coaches had the offense playing not to lose in the second half. You could point fingers everywhere but the defense IMO. If the offense can just have a drive or 2 in the second half, no points even needed really, we probably win. Running semi hurry up while trying to kill clock, was a stroke of genius. Funny thing is, I don't even really care it's just what we do.

I didn't watch the 2nd half (when UK came on).

All I'll say is the 1st half looked amazing. Yes, you can debate the FG on the 1, and it definitely is questionable considering the situation. If UT fails there, and goes on to lose by a FG, we'd be looking at it differently. Hindsight is 20/20. I think you go for it, but we're all fans in front of a tv. It would have made a statement though. And I did flip back and forth enough to know Jumper looked like he belongs at Lindsey Wilson. Missed easy tackles and committed fouls that kept OU alive.

I'm not bothered by the FG that much. Jumper isn't that good, but the D shouldn't have been on the field that much. Play calling was turrible, and the D couldn't catch it's breath. OU just loaded up the box and we took zero shots down field, not that we can complete them, but still. Hurd was pretty much the only offensive player that didn't suck granny nuts. If Tyler Bray would have thrown that OT int, people would have been calling for his first born. I've never been sold on Dobbs, and I remain that way.

Also I really never ***** about refs, because I think usually bad calls even out. But they missed 2 false starts on the last OU drive, one was painfully obvious by the guard.

This.

Dobbs is garbage from the pocket. And when the read option isn't working, he is ineffective. I like the guy. He's humble, but he's just mediocre. He's not great.

I'll still reserve full judgment on this team until 2 weeks from now. I want to see how THIS team responds. OU may just be that good. Who knows?

I still think we go 8-4. The D gave me a lot of hope last night. The O just needs to get a little more creative and attack down field at least ever once in awhile. Let North try to get some 50/50 balls, he's done it in the past.

Regardless of how good OU turns out to be, last night is still going to sting. Even a mediocre coaching staff would have managed to deliver a victory from that 17-0 lead. If last night had been an isolated incident, it would be one thing, the fact that our staff continues to **** their pants in almost the exact same was in those kinds of situations is beyond concerning.

IMHO, Dobbs is like Bray, only their strengths are much different. Bray had a cannon but couldn't run, and Dobbs is the opposite. Where I think they are similar is, both seem to shine against weaker teams, but don't show up as much against the better teams.

Bray obviously had a worse reputation because his attitude and demeanor were both vastly different from Dobbs, plus Dobbs is smarter. Because he's more liked, Dobbs gets way more of a pass than Bray got.

In a way, but you have to admit how we lost last night was incredibly frustrating, and it's set up a definite must win at UF. Lose that one and the meltdown that happened this weekend will seem like a party.

I'm definitely not blaming people for being frustrated. I just think the negativity on the board is a little excessive.

Never had this one as a win. We just aren't deep and our o line is not very good. That being said the coaches need to nut the hell up and accept responsibility for this one.

Sobering stat that I guess I haven't thought about

Since 2002 the Vols are 4 and 18 against ranked teams in Neyland.
