The Official NBA Forum Vols Football Thread

Real fans (those that actually care) won't forget. The masses (those that really don't) may.

I think real fans know by now that Lyle is what he is. He's a below average coach, but with solid top 15 recruiting classes, he can muster up 8-9 wins per season with an occasional lightning in a bottle type year.

You just described every coach in the sec but saban and that is exactly what fulmer was 8-10 wins occasional lightning in a bottle

Such a weird vibe. Full meltdown but with the easy schedule UT will probably win out and fans forget again.

This.

That's what sunk Dooley, he couldn't finish out the easy part of the schedule. I 100% believe that had we not lost to UK in 2011 and Mizzou in 2012 that he would have lasted 1 if not 2 more seasons at least.

Butch Jone's Wiki page...lol our fans are ruthless

"During the 2016 season, Jones' team regressed after an overtime loss to Texas A&M, a particularly brutal 49-10 beating by Alabama in Knoxville, and Jones was fired following a humiliating 24-21 defeat at the hands of unranked South Carolina after a bye week at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia by 1st year Gamecocks Head Coach, Will Muschamp. The South Carolina coach continued his mastery over Jones by running his Won-Loss record to 5-0 all time over the embattled Tennessee Head Coach."

I've always said the best way to sink a coach as a fan is stop buying tickets and merch

ROFL, now we have a thread where people are bashing ESPN for putting UT at #5 on their Bottom 10 list; not realizing the #5 spot is always a joke pick where they put a higher profile team that lost a game they shouldn't have or flat out choked.

They aren't saying UT is the 5th worst team in FBS. Smh.

Fulmer had better seasons. He feasted on teams with inferior talent throughout his tenure. His only obstacle each season was Florida who had a far superior coach with nearly equal talent.

I always envision the FF as folks living in the boonies off of a local county road.

Our fans will continue to pour in over 95K every game.

Tennessee fans should be big supporters of college football breaking away from the NCAA and becoming a semi-professional product.

Revenue generation is a real advantage for us but we are squandering that advantage by pursuing amateurism and sharing the $ with all the sports few people care about.

I see people often complain that we don't pay enough for top assistants....let's do something about that.

Ironically enough the UT game probably saved Joker another year. Oh what could have been.

If you believe the rumors, Dooley tried to resign after that game and was denied, or something like that.

Never saw them. But when the players were more interested in having the season over and not having to endure 3 more weeks of practices with Dooley, that should've been telling.

Ah but your description of Jones is the same results as Fulmer.

Not so fast my friend, Dooley years got down to 85k and not selling out season tickets. Not saying we are there yet but Knoxville is ready to burn Jones at the stake FWIW.
