The Yankees are a gutless baseball team right now. Bad game management, poor offense, and fundamental errors that even little league kids don't make lost them the World Series. Tonight's game and game one were in the bag, and this should be a 3-2 series going back to LA if not for that.
There is zero accountability with this team, and that starts at the top. The Yankees were a better team in 2017 with the half the weapons under an old school manager. It's just what it is. Girardi (and Torre if you want to go back further) would bench people for dropping fly balls, not hustling, or hitting flipping 0.86 in the post season. These guys don't sweat it, because they know they'll get a pat on the head and a "get em tomorrow." So, they waltz right back out there the next day or the next series and do the same flipping thing. It's festered all year, and multiple years for a few players.
Tonight, all of those ugly things showed up at once as a result. Aaron Judge is a great guy, player, front man for the team. He is not the guy with the killer instinct or "win now" mentality any of the old heads had. None of these guys really are, except for probably Cole. You could make a case for Stanton this year, as he played out of his mind.
They deserved to lose this series. They lost it for themselves. The manager and the offense fumbled game one, the offense fumbled games two and three. The players errors that resulted in 5 unearned runs lost the series tonight.
Time to shake the bottle up.
