And as we know, they can do better than a bunch of suburban white-flight boys who go to Ole Miss because that's where daddy went- and because they couldn't get into another school.

I'm not sure I have ever read a more accurate distillation of a single place in all my life.

Well done, sir. Well done.

This is getting very annoying ever weekend.

It was far more annoying before the turf went in.
South Carolina fans gloat about their grass but they already cancelled today's game

College baseball is an early spring sport. In most parts of the country, this is the most unpredictable and wettest time of the year. I suspect turf will increasingly be the norm and I bet the manufacturers will have more and more options designed for college and high school baseball and softball fields.

In particular, I would like to see improvement in "dirt" portion of the fields. Perhaps something more dirt-like and not just brown carpet. I also bet there is some thought on the pitcher's mounds as well. I wonder if there's a natural or man-made sand grain that could be played like dirt but not turn into mud

I got to coach my son's14u team there a couple of years ago. They loved it! Weird part was having all those little rubber pieces in your shoes.

Nailed it on the rain part! Zero chance that we got finished there on the 9th if it was a natural field. Was in town for the KY basketball game that day and couldn't believe they were playing baseball. IT...WAS....NASTY!

It can be done, I just don’t know how cheaply. But there are very many dirt like super absorbent materials… it’s just getting it to behave like baseball dirt does, and for a good price. Which could take time. But I’m sure that will come

IMG_9413.jpegAlso, I’m a known proponent of natural grass and dirt.

But if we have to be a turf team, I wish we used the old school cut outs they did back in the cookie cutter days. It was ending rapidly as I was growing up so I only remember some of it. But I like that field design a lot.
