The Official San Francisco 49ers Thread

Another impressive draft. Not much, if anything, that I do not like about every single pick.

If this doesn't prove that Baalke has his shiz in order, I have no idea. The Hyde pick was really savvy pick, insurance if Lattimore and Hunter can't hack it without Franky

I was begging for either Hyde or Jeremy Hill if Hyde was gone. I enjoyed that sound of morose you heard collectively across the NFL right after Hyde's name was called out in going to the Niners.

Just read an article on the Alex Smith trade, and what those picks became. By trading down and getting more picks, they basically got these guys below for Alex Smith.

D.E. Tank Carradine
L.B. Corey Lemonier
L.B. Chris Borland
R.B. Carlos Hyde
And Stevie Johnson

That is a hell of a haul for Alex Smith.

Thank you once again Andy Reid and the Chiefs organization. Alice maybe has one more good year under his belt and KC will be QB shopping. But Tank, Lemomier, Hyde and Johnson will be around for quite some time. Baalke flat gets it done in the offseason.

Glad to see the 49ers Qb get paid. Gonna be interesting to see what will happen with the Seattle Qb. These rookie contracts need twerking IMO. It can't go back to the Bradford days, but guys who perform in their first contract should have the ability to negotiate earlier on in the process.

About that contract.

Colin Kaepernick's new contract is a year-to-year deal.

Armchair GMs that spent Wednesday bashing the 49ers for the "$126 million" deal with "$61 million guaranteed" need to click the link below. Essentially, the Niners can cut Kaepernick before April 1 of each year without owing any more money -- so the actual guarantee is just $13 million ($12.3M signing bonus, $645K '14 base salary, $100K '14 workout bonus). There is also a de-escalator in the contract that can only be halted if Kaepernick takes the team to the Super Bowl or he is named first- or second-team All-Pro. A source tells Pro Football Talk that San Francisco is "thrilled" with the pact.

He also made sure that it was cap friendly so that they can sign other key players like Crabtree. Pretty shrewd by both parties. What good is it to have more $ then you will ever need in a lifetime when the result is that you have less to win with?

I thought Crabtree is mediocre?
