Nothing wrong with second guessing. We all did it to Fulmer in ‘99. I didn’t like not starting Antigua at 2nd tonite. Granted he doesn’t hit but does Bargo? You weakened 2 positions defensively & it bit him in the ass. The freshmen all had a tough night.I always trust Tony. I was just putting an idea out there. We had nothing to lose with 2 on and instead hit into a double play. It happens, let’s get Game 2.
Opinion on the call from someone who coaches baseball for a living (albeit high school)Dang. I was wondering what took us so long to send him.
Fastest guy on the team. Hasn’t been thrown out in 21 games.
Gets to second with Hunter up, two chances to score him with a hit.
I liked the call.
EDIT: F-R-E-E B-E-R-T-O!
There was “something” at the tail end of the broadcast, but not much video evidence. I’m guessing video will be out on Twitter if it was substantial.I was busy watching the basketball tourney, and did not realize yall opened your series with Bama tonight until just a bit ago. I see it was a close loss on the road to a very legit Bama team. Looks like it got away in the 2nd, and then yall were clawing your way back, but came up just a little short. Still nothing to worry about my friends. What a killer schedule starting with two top 10 teams to open up SEC play. Regardless of the outcome this weekend (and I’m still betting yall taking the series), this will make yall stronger down the stretch. I know it sucks to lose (especially to Bama!), but it’s nothing to worry about.
I read on the SEC Rant that there was a little beef when shaking hands after the game. I cannot take that board seriously. The whole point of that board is to troll everyone 24/7, so I can’t believe anything said there 97% of the time. Can anyone tell me what happened?

Dude hasn't even started a series this year in SEC play until tonight, brings 3 years SEC experience to the plate and field, which he did pretty god last year for the limited starts he had. Went up against a tough lefty tonight who was dealing fits to everyone, 2 total walks as a team? Tough to catch a rhythm sometimes, but pretty sure he faired pretty well for his PH appearances against Florida for Clark. Who by the way better get SEC figured out.I’m not sure what Bargo brings in SEC play. He & Peebles have been disappointing
Bargo had two hard hit balls last night and was robbed of a hit on a great play by their center fielder, IMO he should be DH’ing and Clark should take a seat until he finds his swing again.Nothing wrong with second guessing. In the future, we should beef up the early non conference series. Need a test before SEC.The biggest take away from this performance. Liam can have absolutely terrible inning and come back and get it together. Being down 3 runs and not going to the pen saved some key pieces to the pen . Nothing Tony tried or didn't try seemed to work out. It happens it's baseball. No real baseball fan expected to go undefeated but as a VOLS fan I just hate losing to them damn bammers. Fight hard and take the series. GBO![]()
Don't think that's necessarily the thing to do. Baseball is just different sometimes things just don't go your way. The very best hitters fail most of the time so at any it's almost like a flip of a coin. The relative easy schedule gives you a chance to play all the young players to gain experience and to see how they perform. Why do you think Tony recruits at the top ever year ? These players Tony gets are not going come here and ride the pine until the older guys leave. You could write a book on how to be successful in college baseball but no need I'll just take Tony Vs book and not waste the time.In the future, we should beef up the early non conference series. Need a test before SEC.
Just an aggressive play with:I’m so glad you can quote posts.
He got a bad jump. And you can’t get thrown out trying to steal second down 1 to end the game.
I wonder if, after you've won a national championship, if that changes what you prepare for as a program? In the future, we should beef up the early non conference series. Need a test before SEC.
