I don’t really think they threw the ball all that bad. Burns recorded, I think, 15 outs of which 12 were strike outs. when MO put the ball in play, it was a hit. Think Dollanders location was a bit off, and MO hit the mistakes hard. Fielding errors hurt Beem. They All threw decent, credit MO bats for hammering mistakes, they got a pitch to hit-they hit it. We got a pitch to hit-either missed or fouled it off. the lack of hitting and fielding errors concerns me.What happened to our pitching? That's the big question...
Texas A&M is a must win series next weekend before heading to Baton Rouge next Wednesday for the Thur-Sat series with the Tigers. You can’t go to LSU 1-5 or 0-6 in conference play. If they do then this team may be out of the making it to Hoover by Mid April with their next 5 series .
Whatever the issue (weather, nerves, draft stakes, pressure, strikezone, worried about the bats, etc.,) it managed to bother all 3 and a few bullpen guys, which is very odd. A pitcher will have a rough outing every so often, as that is baseball. It is definitely a mind set going forward and not their ability to throw a ball. Frank will have the right words for them this week, as I am sure they are unhappy and disappointed too. It is up to them to move forward. We should be supportive, however possible, as we all know these are kids and our kidsWhat happened to our pitching? That's the big question...
On the record that's true. On our confidence and psyche? Remains to be seen. I'll be interested to see how this group responds to a weekend beat down like that. That’s elitist? I’m simply stating I’m not going anywhere as you suggested, in fact the opposite. Losing a bunch of games by 1 or a bunch of games by 5+ lead to the same result.
When an entire pitching staff of this caliber is hit hard like this weekend, the only answer is they faced a talented, well coached and prepared team.Whatever the issue (weather, nerves, draft stakes, pressure, strikezone, worried about the bats, etc.,) it managed to bother all 3 and a few bullpen guys, which is very odd. I tell my kids that it’s more important to wear the UT colors (and show your support for the team) after a loss than a win. I hope there’s a good crowd on Tuesday as this team deserves it.Whatever the issue (weather, nerves, draft stakes, pressure, strikezone, worried about the bats, etc.,) it managed to bother all 3 and a few bullpen guys, which is very odd. UT dropped from #2 to #12 in D1 baseball poll. There are five SEC teams ranked higher than UT. This is closer to where they should have been ranked in the preseason polls based on replacing all 9 hitters in their lineup.
Notably: Grand Canyon at #25, Boston College at #16, and Misouri at #22.
Totally agreeYes! I ain't worried about our pitching at all. We are twelve deep.
Must admit, I liked the 'better defense' lineup card announced prior to game 3. Having Scott in center helps matters up the middle.
However, after watching the starters combine for zero hits off Missouri 4th best starter...?
I don't know what to do? For some odd reason, my gut doesn't like maui at leadoff. But, I have no answers.
