Forget the fans, Chris Johnson owes Matt Forte an apology - NFL - CBSSports.com Football

Don't like Doyel but he tears Chris Johnson apart.

Nothing I haven't been saying since the beginning of the holdout though so I'm sure most of you remember me b****ing about the same stuff :)

I really hope CJ turns it around but despite his rare skill set, I knew that no running back is worth what he was asking. I'm a little surprised but not shocked that he doesn't seem to care now that he got his. I know opposing defenses stack the box and the line is average but it seems like he doesn't even try to hit the holes when they are there. He'd rather run sideways and avoid the big hits up the middle. While most people disagreed with me, I really thought an average running back would have a better season than CJ because defenses would back off. That remains to be seen since Ringer hasn't gotten enough carries but 99% of Chris Johnson's runs this season are wasted downs. It's nice that it helps open up the passing game but that's asking a lot out of an aging Hasselbeck and poor wide receivers. Starting to revert back to my original opinion that the Titans should have traded him when he demanded a new contract. So many people were saying that the Titans would be stupid to trade him and that plenty of NFL teams would make offers. Kind of wish they had... the Titans could have gotten value and some other team would be footing his ridiculous bill

Can't say I disagree with the writer. CJ has run out of excuses, short of hiding an injury, and has gone to calling out the fans for abandoning him. Glad I never got the CJ jersey.

Let's just hope the Titans can stay on Houston's tail and stay in the playoff hunt. Maybe the idea of making the playoffs will get him going. I could see how coming into the season you'd have low expectations with this team, I know I did. You should never feel that way as a player though. He needs to pull his head out of his butt and show he cares by running hard. At the very least he he should earn his contract and try to put on a show for the fans. He probably thinks the fans are turning on him because he got paid and they're jelly. Could just be they are turning on him because he sucks to watch

I think without significant improvement in his play (the dropped passes that hit him squarely bother me more), I think he may be at risk of being cut. Ironically, he is more at risk of not playing if they fall out of the hunt. No sense in injuring him in meaningless games.

He's not at risk of getting cut

Also teams in the NFL - in losing seasons - don't work like the last 2 sentences here

He keeps playing like this I'm sure they'll see the contract through.

his contract is too cap friendly overall; he has little to no chance of being cut at the end of this season unless he decides to go on a Vince Young type tirade and then punch one of the coaches

I wasn't suggesting the end of the season. He'll be here next season, IMO. After that is a coin flip depending on play.

Here's to a big win and a bottle of vodka for me today. Go Titans!!

Time for the Bungles. Used to hate this team(even though they sucked) when the Titans were in the same division. What was that division called anyways? Central? I was trying to remember the other day and I was blanking.

Correct Pearl, AFC Central. Loved those old rivalries

The old afc central: teams were

Pittsburgh Steelers
Houston Oilers/ Tennessee Titans
Cincinatti Bengals
Cleveland Browns (original and then expansion)
Baltimore Ravens (after a very messy move)
Jacksonville Jaguars (expansion in 1995 or 96)

I was never the biggest fan of the whole realignment; I get that team's like the Arizona cardinals (formerly St Louis cardinals) didn't need to be in an eastern division with the giants and everyone (and some other teams had location issues)

But it really tore apart the central as well as some of the other older rivalries (colts ties with all the afc east teams for example)

Also felt having 3 wild card teams to be a better setup

And the scheduling was better keyed towards parity, with 4-5 games decided by how you did the previous year (before the changes, if a team finished the top of their division for example, they'd play - their division and another designated division, but then every other opponent would be 4-5 teams that finished 1st or 2nd from the other divisions)

(now the top teams play pretty much the same schedule as the worst team's in their division, save only 2 games versus opponents who finished the same)

Yeah, Ravens and Steelers were good times. So were the Jags. The rivalry has kind of died down a bit since the Jags have been sucking for a while. It was intense when both teams were really good

Bengals and Browns were just the whipping boys.

new browns yes, not sure about how the old browns (now ravens) did in the central...they at least made several abc championship games

(Bengals did have several good years there though, including those 2 super bowl appearance years)
