He doesn't have to be the problem. If the team loses with or without him then you lose nothing by playing the rookie.

Unless you've got a project in which case the more time watching, practicing, and learning the better.

McNair only played in either 2 or 4 games his rookie year...and I dont think he was named immediate starter the next year either

I agree, but I am not sure what we have really.

He's felt to be a project with quite high potential but that will still need quite some work first...the kind that possibly being rushed into play or creating bad habits early on could be detrimental to in the long run

It's felt he's best just to wait until the coaches feel he's shown himself ready

It is ultimately up to the coaches anyway, but I would hope that if they use him this early that they could identify and correct any horrible habits before they get set in stone. I'm not sure if I like the idea of him learning from the current Hasselbeck for a couple of years any better than just throwing him out there. It isn't as if Matt doesn't have bad tendencies. I understand both sides of that argument really, but if the coaches don't think they can develop him while he is playing then I guess that's it and they shouldn't play him. I suppose having the worst running game in the NFL doesn't help.

It's going to be a while on Locker. They won't get in any rush to bring him in until all hope is lost for the playoffs.

Titans have no running game and no #1 or really #2 wr, as well as struggles in the interior line.
It's not the time to bring in Locker.

CJ had a decent game. Too bad he only rushed the ball 14 times. ... He has to start getting more carries. Period.

By far the best player on offense this week.

What's up with Hasselbeck and the receivers? They are never on the same page, feels like I'm watching a high school game.

If CJ can't get anything going against Carolina's run defense, then he's a lost cause. I love the Panthers, but man, our defense is hurting right now. We've got two ends playing great football right now, but we might as well have Daniel Hood and Maurice Couch at DT. When Omar Gaither and Dan Connor are starting at LB for you in 2011, you know you must be struggling.

He could not get anything going against the Colts D, I have not watched the Panthers this season but I doubt their D is worse than the Colts D

Well that was embarassing. Titans could not finish what could have been interceptions, and in the 2nd half 0 points.
Despite a penalty with 1st and 20 it was no problem for the Bengals.
I thought for what would have been the last play it was going to be the lateral more than 3 times, there was 4th and 1 now it was not that late in the game, and if the Titans didn't make it the Bengals would already be at midfield.
At least CJ had a ok game.

Well, CJ had a much better game against a much better defense on Saturday. Maybe he'll put together a full game this week. I still think the OL has played very poorly, but CJ hasn't played well, either.

I think the season's results are more in line with our offseason expectations. The 3-1 record was a mirage. The team is closer to 7-9 than it is 9-7. I'm not down on the Titans, just realize that our first impressions of the roster were right, although Kenny Britt makes the offense really good. If Kenny were still around, I think the team would've beat Cincy and the conversation is a lot different today. Kenny Britt is the team's MVP.

Anyway, LB, S, and DL are also positions of need on D and the team needs to improve on the interior OL and get another WR. If anything, the offseason focus should be in the middle of the D or draft another WR if an elite one is available wherever they draft in the 1st round. Would love to see some more beef up front and we need some LBs that can fill and cover. The front 7 still isn't getting it done. The secondary is fine, IMO, and would automatically improve if the front 7 could get more pressure.

The roster is what it is and it's not going to change this year. I'm not giving up, just being realistic and will still be following every move the team makes.

So you think this reciever needs a Vincent Jackson kind of WR?

Such a lame, unfounded excuse.

If you suck you suck.

I think he'll suck regardless of when he plays.

Look at a guy like Alex Smith. It took him 3 years before he looked somewhat comfortable as a QB in the NFL.

A guy like David Carr that gets beaten down before he has a chance to do anything in the NFL.

Steve McNair sat the majority of his rookie year.

Aaron Rodgers admits sitting helped him.

There are players that benefit from sitting a year or two before being thrown to the wolves.

I do too.

Sitting helps some guys, sure. Doesn't mean those same guys playing early would be ruined. Peyton Manning sucked in year 1...

A wasted draft pick if he plays too early

Andy Dalton and Cam Newton disagree. There are examples on both sides of the argument. Depends on the guy. Regardless, Locker is sitting.

In regards to the WR comment, Kenny Britt is the Titans' version of Vincent Jackson, I think. It wouldn't hurt to have two guys like that. I'm not real picky on the type of WR. If it's Justin Blackmon, Alshon Jeffry, Jeff Fuller, or whoever... Another game breaker at WR would be very exciting and help the team be less reliant on Britt. Anyway, I'm an advocate of another high WR pick.

Kenny Britt is more talented than VJ is. He disappears a lot less often and carries his team more.

I don't know if I'd take Jeffery at this point. He's starting to appear somewhat lazy because he's so fat. I'd probably take Michael Floyd over everyone but Blackmon.

Thanks for the response. I'm not a scout, so I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other as to which WR would be a better pro. Although, I could REALLY get behind Da'rick or Justin in 2013. :loco:

I mean, I'm sure my opinion will change several times between now and draft day and I'm obviously no expert either. It just scares me that Jeffery looks fatter than some of their DEs and doesn't really seem like he'll be able to separate at the next level. I view Hunter as another A.J. Green so I'd definitely be all over that, or even a guy like Robert Woods next year.
