New AD with no prior involvement, Cheek only involved once and DiPietro had been on board for 3 months last time so doubt he had much involvement, if at all. Therefore, the issues with the administration should be quieted somewhat. Marshall is human, hence he has a price.

The 50-year-old did not rule out leaving Wichita State if an elite program in a high-profile league showed interest, but he said he has turned down $2 million offers from major-conference schools in the past because he's not eager to mess with happy.

"I'm not in search of anything," Marshall said. "I've got a great life, great family, great community I live in, great school, great administration, great players. What more do I need? More money? That's the only thing."

Wichita State would easily match up to $2 million, and I'm not confident at all that Hart would pay a bball coach more than $2 million to start.

There's no point in debating with you seeing as you know the spending power of an obscure Missouri Valley school.

Though he wasn't the sole man in charge he comes from a school who takes bball half as serious as we do and they paid Grant $1.9mil.

Marshall would make tennessee pay him $4 million, he doesn't want to come here and it's pretty well known.

Much like Shaka at VCU, and Stevens was at Butler, some guys are just happy where they are. Shaka makes like 1.5, but turned down 3+ at uncle supposedly. Some guys it's about more than just the money.

I'm not even a regular poster in the BB forum. Marshall was a candidate when Pearl got hired, I'm pretty sure he was a candidate, though I can offer no proof, that he was a candidate when Martin was hired.

With this Bruce Pearl thing hanging around, no coach like Marshall will consider this job.

Can't let some vocal but clueless rednecks clamoring for BP scare you away. They seem to have forgotten the path Pearl's teams were going down at the end of his tenure (including the Elite 8 team).

You have absolutely no idea what salary would get him to leave unless you've talked to Gregg lately, you have absoulutely no idea of what WSU and boosters are capable of and willing to spend to keep him yet you continue to speak in such absolutes. You look like a fool comparing our chances with Marshall to that of Jackson. You know damn well there's absolutely no shot with one and the other might be tough but is always a possibility.

Multiple local media have reported the same. They said from what his agent has put out, from what Tennessee boosters feel, and from people inside the AD...that there's no way Marshall would end up here.

Is it possible? Sure. I just don't see the chances as very good, id put them slightly above the chances of Pearl returning.
