I just find it hard to believe we are that far behind in the talent department to MO. Bama I belive the gap is canyoness but MO?

well, we have 4 players left from top 10 ranked '09 class. That's a start. Pinkel also has been there for over a decade and has a system in place with the players he chooses. Their speed at qb, rb and talent at wr is better than ours right now. Outside of McCullers, we don't have an nfl prospect playing D. That's pathetic. In our greatest years, we had multiple players. We'll have only OL taken in this years draft and may not have a single player taken in next years draft. That's just where we are at right now.

Actually in the words of coach green they are who we thought they were ! Our team isnt fast and play how I thought they would. The sc game is the exception. We got a lil luck and a lot ok over achieving in that game

For the older players, I believe we are seeing some carry-over from Dooley. Bottom line, Dooley did a poor job developing players, especially on defense. I saw linebackers out of positions and taking poor angles (including A.J. Johnson). Our free safety is not good at all...he can't read QB stems, poor technique, and can not break on the ball to save his life. Furthermore, the offensive line...just can't get it done on a consistent basis.

Lack of proper technique and not playing assignment football weighted with a horrendous defensive game plan against a #2 backup QB will get your ass beat every time.

yep, but I also see players in the right position quite often and are unable to make the play.

I don't disagree with that but MO won't have anymore drafted than us. From a pure talent standpoint we are very similar IMO. Scheme has something to do with it. Maybe it's the time in the system. The team I think has taken a step back imo, the lack of competitiveness is jaw dropping.

People lose their minds when we lose a game, you would think they would know how to handle it by now.

I understand frustration. However, being unrealistic about what we have on the field leads to some frustration for people I believe. No way we were staying on the field with Mizzou last night. I said the same thing last week. Matchup nightmare with a pissed off team that can still go to the sec champ game.

Absolutely not. That was a program changing win. We got throttled by two Top 10 teams. Big deal. It's all part of a process. Butch is learning, so are his coaches. And we had a damn True Freshman at QB yesterday on the road vs a Top 10 team playing to get in the SEC Championship. That win was cancelled out.

A fluke win is part of the game also! We got one then sank back to reality

The talent isn't there, but the motivation and effort should ALWAYS be there. This team should be run out of town. They are a disgrace to the former Vols who gave their all. Last night I saw a defense quit in the 1st qtr. They were out of position all night. Missed tackles constantly, slow to react. Either these players are too stupid to coach,or the coaches are incompetent.

The offensive line is extremely overrated. The QB played as expected. Not blaming him,he at least tried hard.

Bottom line is UT football has hit rock bottom. Maybe Jones can resurrect it,I doubt it. Next year will be a gauge of how Jones' system will work or not.

Feel free to use your Saturdays watching reruns of Bob Vila's This Old House on PBS and maybe the bottom dwelling Vols won't have to upset you anymore.

We just have speed issues guys. It really is that simple. It will get better. Butch 100%gets it. Many on here post about "bad angles" on defense. I understand it may appear to be the case. Sometimes it actu ally is. Understand this though...there is no such thing as a good angle for my 12 year old son to take if I catch the ball in space within 5 yards of him. None. There is not an angle where he makes contact with me before I take it to the house. If you doubt what I say watch some of those TDS...or Oregons or Fla's...I am in no way bashing my Vols. Love em too much...I'm not sure we have a legit 4.4 guy on that side of the ball. You can't coach speed. It will get better...cheer louder. Adrenaline makes everyone faster. GBO VFL HUBANegavols

I'm not going to complain about the loss. But when you see your players quitting and giving crapy effort like they did it makes me sick

I think it is odd. If we can beat USC why can't we at the very least be competitive in the Missouri game? Wasn't expecting a win but jeez...

From what I've noticed it has a lot to do with where we play. At home we seem to play loose and aggressive. On the road we play soft and hesitant. A lot of that might come from playing so many younger guys.

Lol fluke

I wouldn't call that a fluke. Honestly, that is just dumb. Butch got those boys ready to play that game and it helped we were at home. We are not anywhere CLOSE to having the talent to compete in the SEC right now. So the fact the we won that game is a testament to the coaches ability to in fact coach. No of you should act surprised we just got blown out the past 2 weeks by teams who will most likely play in the SECG. The talent is just not there. With next weeks game, if we win...great...if not, thats okay. Our biggest concern is UK and Vandy to get to a bowl game.

Throttled? Throttled??????

Euphemism for humiliated.

Big deal? Dam straight it's a huge deal when you are a tradition rich school and aren't competitive. And any time that happens the coaches and team need to be called out, brick by brick.

Hopefully the staff is watching Auburn film and preparing a plan right this second.

Saturday marks the 52nd all-time meeting between Tennessee and Auburn and the first since 2009. The Vols are 21-27-3 all-time vs. the Tigers, including a 14-9-2 mark at Neyland Stadium.

Tennessee and Auburn are playing for the first time since 2009, when the Tigers won 26-22 in Knoxville.

The Vols have lost five consecutive games to Auburn from 2003-09, following a streak in which UT was 5-0-1 vs. the Tigers from 1989-99.

Tennessee and Auburn met every season from 1956-1991 prior to the league's expansion to 12 teams.

Improve the Vols to 5-5 and snap a five-game losing streak vs. Auburn, dating to 2003 and be the Vols' first win over Auburn since Oct. 2, 1999, a 24-0 UT win.

Represent two wins in four games over ranked teams after 19 consecutive losses to ranked teams from Dec. 31, 2009 through Oct. 5, 2013.

Snap a 19-game losing streak vs. AP Top 10 opponents dating to the 51-33 win at No. 10 Georgia in 2006. Earlier this season, South Carolina was ranked No. 9 in the Coaches Poll when the Vols beat SC (23-21).

Mark consecutive wins at home over ranked opponents for the first time since 2007 (35-14 over No. 12 Georgia on Oct. 6, 2007 and 27-24 overtime win over No. 15 South Carolina on Oct. 27, 2007).

No. 7 Auburn is the school-record seventh ranked team the Vols have played in the regular season in 2013.

In 1991, UT played six ranked teams in the regular season (#21 UCLA, #23 Mississippi St., #13 Auburn, at #10 Florida, at #14 Alabama, at #5 Notre Dame). Tennessee also played #6 Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl that season.

According to Stats, Inc., Tennessee is the first team since Pitt in 1993 to play seven ranked teams in eight games.
