I'm older than most posters on here and used to attend a lot of games beginning with dewey warren and bobby scott as our QB'S. i think we are basically mellow with our attitudes toward visitors unless they start some ignorant shat and sitting close to me. I can take an ass-whoopin in stride just don't go rubbin it in. Being from upper east tn and rare was the occasion was to put a whoopin on the old ball coach,(Spurrier), and watch that crybaby's visor fly. UT has absolutely the best fans in the world.I'm really curious about this.
A question specifically to anyone who's been attending Tennessee games (of any well-attended sport) for 50 years or more:
From your experience, has trash talking behavior changed over the past 50 years? In public, are we coarser in our language, less considerate of others, or is it just that my memories have become selective?
I admit, I was questioning keeping Burns out there- so I suck because I was a Nega, but Tony and co. show why this is a great coaching staff. Three pitchers and we still have plenty of good ones to throw even with two more games.
Unless the rules have changed, I think you can throw them till their arm falls off, but iit's hard on them-- when they get too tired and crampy they don't do too well and most pitchers would probably transfer if treated that way EDIT: since they could injure themselves and professional careers.
