The Official Tennessee vs. Citadel Game Thread, 7:00pm ET(11/18/13), SportSouth

Good win. Took care of business against outclassed competition. They tried to make a game of it and never got closer than, what, 15 or so? Solid team effort, lots of people contributed.

I've been impressed. I didn't know what to expect from him.

Obviously late to this thread, but Barton wasn't happy with how he was used at Memphis, says this is a perfect fit for him and his game.

The scary part is he still isn't 100%, once his knee/ankle is 100% he will be able to drive more opening up some passes, and making his perimeter shot even more effective.

I said it for months, Barton is better for this years team than Golden.

I haven't actually gotten to watch a game yet, but it seems from reading this forum that Hubbs is a bit more raw than some of us were expecting. Is that a fair statement?

Depends on what you were expecting. Those they've seen him or paid attention to him knew he was very raw and would likely have a roller coaster year.

However Mark Pancratz said last night he's the best athlete to come through Tennessee since he's been here.

I'm fully aware it's just 3 games, but McRae is quietly on pace to be an all-American and 1st round pick.

Averaging 20ppg on 46%fg 43%3pt his assists are up to 3.3 a game while having an amazing 2.5:1 assist to turnover.

My only negative is his rebounding needs to pick up where it was last year, or improve on that, but right now he's playing great. My he scary part is it's quiet, looks effortless, IMO he needs to be more aggressive going forward. I honestly don't think there's many guys that can stop him, he's just too good.

Have you noticed him? He keeps rubbing them. It's odd.

Does it every game, just because he doesn't scream during games people think he's not intense. His hands sweat like crazy, he's constantly wiping his head off, and I always crack up when he starts doing the finger licking lol.

I get the sense there's times he'd like to lace em up and get out there.

I know no one will agree with me, but McRae has thoroughly pissed me off so far this year. Just disappears from time to time and gives extremely half assed efforts when he doesn't feel like attacking. I know he can't do everything, but I don't think it's that much to ask to try to drive to the basket (since he's by far the best at this) instead of forcing up a contested 3 pointer. And that's not to say he's a bad 3 point shooter, but come on, inside-out!

This is extremely nitpicky, and he's still the best player on the team.

That's not really saying much. Almost anything would have been better for this team than Golden

I aint mad atcha for thinking that. B4 last nights game I would have agreed with you100%. Last though it looked like their was a much better effort made to take the ball to the basket and get to the free throw line. Lat noght though him and Barton were freaking en fueago.lol

I thought the same thing in the Xavier game when he just completely disappeared in the second half. He wasn't being shadowed or double teamed or anything just wasn't being aggressive. Then the last 6 mins he was unstoppable. This is why I don't understand CCM getting all the blame for that game. Nobody was being agressive but Barton.

Martin needs to sit McRae down and tell him he's the guy, I think McRae is for a lack of better words "confused". He knows he has Stokes, Maymon is back, he loves Barton's game and he knows his wing man Richardson has improved. I think he almost feels a need to defer some to give those guys opportunities, but he shouldn't be, he's borderline unstoppable.

If he continued to average 20 with no assist and about 5 rebounds I wouldn't be mad lol.

I said something similar to my dad. Cuonzo needs to say McCrae needs to touch the ball on every possession. He is by far our most consistent offensive weapon.
