The Official Tennessee vs. Kentucky Game Thread

The loose ball at the end was especially pathetic. Uk is on the floor while Tobias and Scotty are hoping the ball comes to them. Get on the dam floor....

I know it's easy to say if we had Brian Williams we win but that's just not the case...Tennessee wasn't ready to play and didn't play with any urgency...They let a team come in and beat them that hasn't done anything in the league on the road...Had Kentucky played halfway decent in the first half they would have blown UT off the court...Cryin' ass shame to put forth that type of performance in such an important game...

And had Tennessee played half decent in the 2nd half we woulda blown KY off the court... Let's talk about what actually happened and not "if" statements please.

Here are the facts:
Scotty did not play well, but the refs sure didn't help him out every time he drove the lane and got smacked in the chest they didn't call it until the last 10 minutes.

Tobias Harris had a great game, and he contributed what he needed to for a win, the rest of the team did not.

The refs were very consistent in the 1st half, and I'm being serious. They were calling it both ways in the 1st half. Apparantley UK's "halftime adjustment" was a huge bag of money and promise of a scholarship to play for them next year. Awful 2nd half refereeing. And changing that foul from Lamb to Liggins was the icing on the cake... You call it on one guy, that actually committed the foul, and then change it to a guy who wasn't around? O.K.

Jeronne Maymon and Kenny Hall have futures... They looked very decent tonight, and were fair replacements for a big man that we lost.

Last but not least, I was shocked to see that we had a half court offense in the 1st half. Shows what we can do if we are running on all cylinders.

Overall, I saw some improvement from this team since Ms. State, and South Carolina. I also saw the same regression that we have seen happen throughout the year. If we play like we're SUPPOSED to, we will make it to the finals of the SEC Tourney to Face UK for a final time.

Additionally, I think it's time to stop blaming Pearl for EVERYTHING... yeah yeah yeah, he's the coach he runs the show... People jump on him for subbing too much, but then jump on him for leaving people in too long. Truth of the matter is, we haven't had anyone but Scotty and Tobias, and possibly Goins prove that they should start (Brian williams also, but you know, he couldn't go) so he has been TRYING to find a group that works together, and it just hasn't worked...

Anyway, GBO and kick some ass in the tourney!

Is it sad I almost expect us to have a run in the SEC Tournament because it won't be at home?

Why do you expect that? The team had everything to play for today, took a lead but couldn't finish. What's going to change ?

It was a joke based on the fact that we play like trash at home and actually play pretty well on the road. You can take it seriously, though.

Yep, watching this team is a hell of a good time, I'm wrong.

Im a 76ers basketball fan, I know all about bad basketball. If our worst season in UT basketball is an NCAA tournament team----I am totally ok with that.

Have a back bone, grow a pair and support our team!!!

at least Kenny Hall is hustling and scoring. we will be back to controlled chaos after he gets a lot more conditioning. Good work young man :hi:

I can't even pretend anymore. While this team has some bright spots and decent highlights from some of it's players, overall as a team they blow in their efforts. A perfect example was that rebound getting on the floor near the end. The only reason one of our guys ended up on the floor with the Kentucky players who were diving for it is because he tripped over one of them. Give me the guy that'll lay out on the floor for a recovery over the waist bender any day. Hats off to Kentucky for being hungry and having pride in their play. We had everything fall into place. After hearing on the radio all week that there was no way Bama beats Georgia and fla beats vandy, it happens only for us to choke out.

If MH has any guts at all he leaves in the morning to meet with Slime and the head of SEC officials. Time for a throw down on that issue. It's been the same junk all season long.

If MH has any guts at all when the season ends he requests Pearl's resignation, hands him a check, and thanks him for his efforts. He then goes and hires the best available; starting with the most proven program builders that have exhibited unquestioned integrity in the past. Then he provides them a long term contract with financial security that is assured as long as the coach produces the desired results.

If MH has any guts at all he then calls a press conference to introduce the new coach and begins by saying, "At this time I want to apologize to the student athletes, the University, and the Vol Nation for the events that have plagued the baskeball and football programs in recent times. I am partially to blame and the buck stops with me. I feel that I have corrected the situation in football with the hiring of Coach Derek Dooley. I feel that we have the same opportunity with basketball as well. The Unversity and athletic department are committed to restoring the image of the University of Tennessee to one of excellence, good character, and integrity. With that in mind I introduce to you, Coach XX."

I know everyone is pissed.
But come on.
We didn't lose that game because of coaching.
We simply got beat.

I stop taking posts seriously when it turns to the refs beat us angle...Good teams overcome that stuff and the Vols were playing at home on Senior Night for 2nd place in the East...No reason for their lack of energy or hustle...Ky just out-hustled UT and went hard for all the 50-50 balls today...

The one thing I agree with you on is had UT come to play they would have had close to a 20 point halftime lead but they didn't come ready to play...

And...Do you really think UT was "running on all cylinders" in the first half ?

You know, maybe just maybe, playing away from home in the SECT may be just what the Vols need...But just like you said, "let's talk about what is actually happening and not deal in what if's."...
