The Official Tennessee vs LSU CWS Game Thread (Tues. 6/20 7PM EST ESPN)

I will say this. I know tradition and it's a great park and a great scene, but I don't understand playing the CWS at a site where big wind toward the plate is standard. Someone explain this to me after the game.

It evens the playing field for teams that can ONLY play small ball and manufacture runs

Baseball is all about what you can force across the plate and small ball teams don't score as many runs as big hitters do

The field gives the "little guys" a chance (or the "big guys" who also can manufacture runs). TN can't be anything but a big hitter team. HR's make for fun games, but unless you can gear down and actually play "baseball" when you can't hit 'em out you're gonna get beat.

I would be shocked if we didn't have the worst batting team in Omaha and it just decided to show up tonight. Outside of Dickey and CMO no hitter was what you would consider consistently clutch. Zane and Merrit did it a couple of times but this was just a weak offensive team with a catcher batting sub .180. The fully unexplainable defensive blunders decided to show back up after disappearing as well. All in all a successful season that made it to Omaha for a team that looked dead in the water in early April.
